A welcoming19th century, stone built cottage in the quaint village of Rhiwbryfdir, only 10 minutes walk from Blaenau Ffestiniog and close to the centre of the stunning Snowdonia National Park. Dolawel Cottage ('breeze on the meadow') is terraced and has been renovated to offer perfect accommodation. There are two bedrooms: 1 x ground floor double, 1 x 1st floor twin. Ground floor bathroom with bath with shower over, WC and basin. Modern fitted kitchen. Cosy sitting room with woodburner. 1st floor dining room with beautiful mountain views. Close to the cottage are footpaths that lead to the Moelwyn Mountains, and nearby are the Manod Mawr & Bach Mountains and the Manod Lake, offering pretty scenic walks. You can visit Betws-y Coed, the busy town of Porthmadog or the huge beach at Black Rock Sands. This is an ideal all year round holiday retreat. About the area: Porthmadog 10 miles; Betws-y-Coed 11 miles. Rhiwbryfdir is a very small village that overlooks the Moelwyn Mountains and borders Blaenau Ffestiniog. In the 19th Century Blaenau used to be the capital of slate quarrying, it stands in an elevated, natural bowl in this mountainous region and provides a wide range of shops, pubs and tourist attractions. Visit Llechwedd Slate Cavern, a former quarry, the hydroelectric power station or the narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway offering wonderful trips through stunning countryside. The area has superb walks and bike trails, magnificent sandy beaches, fishing and golf, dry ski slopes, while within easy reach are Betws-y-Coed and the Italianate Village of Portmeirion.
