Kirkby Lonsdale - its nearby neighbour is located in the heart of the Lune Valley, halfway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th Century Market Charter. Nowadays, every Thursday is market day, an ideal opportunity for visitors to enjoy the variety of distinctive shops in the town, or the 17th and 18th Century buildings. The medieval Devil's Bridge spans the river, and the peaceful country lanes are perfect for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. Nearby are three golf courses, as well as tennis, fishing, riding and a variety of riverside and country walks.
