Once an 18th Century shipbuilding centre and a significant commercial port, exporting locally quarried limestone, gunpowder and copper, Greenodd today is effectively a cul-de-sac with a selection of shops and the local pub, The Ship, which gives a visible link to the village's history. The old market town of Ulverston is only 3 miles away, famous for its street markets and festivals, and boasts a big selection of pubs, shops and leisure facilities. All the attractions of the National Park are within easy reach, including Coniston and Windermere, as well as the stunning Furness Coast with its golden beaches and good bird watching opportunities.
