There is much to enjoy in the area; this is an excellent base for walking and cycling as well as discovering the beautiful border region known as The Marches, with Offa'a Dyke, the Mortimer Trail and further afield, the Black Mountains. The area is renowned for its lovely scenery and for its excellent walking in the surrounding rolling hills. This pleasant town has a number of good shops, pubs, restaurants and a variety of tourist attractions close by including Eastnor Castle, Hergest Croft Gardens, the Offa's Dyke Path, the Mortimer Trail and the lovely walk to Hergest Ridge, also within easy reach and well worth a visit is the delightful town of Hay-on-Wye.
