A large, detached cottage in a peaceful location, on a private plot just off the centre of the village of Norham, next to St Cuthbert's church. The accommodation, all on one level, is warm, comfortable and welcoming. It has an open fire in the sitting room, with a small study and a pleasant lawned garden, close to the River Tweed. Norham still has a bakery, butchery, a village shop and two pubs, one of which serves food. The village green has children's play equipment, and is just around the corner from the cottage .Close by, Berwick-upon-Tweed and Cornhill-upon-Tweed both offer a lot in the way of amenities, while further afield but still within easy reach are the fishing villages of the Northumberland coastline, as well as the vibrant Scottish city of Edinburgh. About the area: Famous for its splendid Norman Castle ruins, painted by Turner in 1845 is the historic village of Norham. The village has a superb butcher and bakery, grocery store, a Post Office, newsagent and two pubs, with an award-winning restaurant at the Wheatsheaf pub at nearby Swinton. Berwick-upon-Tweed is only 7 miles away, at the northern tip of Northumberland's beautiful Heritage Coast, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, pubs and a links golf course close by. Just 40 minutes by train from Berwick is the Scottish capital of Edinburgh. A perfect base for exploring all North Northumberland has to offer.
