This charming, 250 year old terraced cottage in the village of Delph, located at the start of the Castleshaw Valley on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border has two bedrooms, 1 x double and 1x single. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and WC. There is a fitted kitchen, and a sitting room with woodburner-effect gas fire, and a dining area. Situated on the edge of the Saddleworth Moors, the Cottage is characterized with wonderful beams and original exposed stone walls. It has been lovingly restored and decorated with warmth and charm and offers quality accommodation with a homely atmosphere. The well established garden leads to open fields, providing beautiful views of the Saddleworth Moors. Excellent walks are available to the Roman Fort on the Chester to York military road, as well as nearby Uppermill which has several art galleries, gift shops, restaurants and public houses. Location Information: Uppermill 2 miles; Oldham 6 miles. Located on the Yorkshire/Lancashire border, the picturesque village of Delph has hardly changed from the 19th century, when the small mills were at the core of a thriving community. It is still the ideal start for walks up the Castleshaw Valley to the Roman Fort, one of many built on the Roman military road from Chester to York. Village festivals, which include a charity beer walk and brass band contest are enjoyed in Delph. Nearby, Uppermill , the largest Saddleworth village, is located in the valley below Saddleworth Church, being dominated by an impressive viaduct. The Tourist Information Centre stocks the Local Interest Trail leaflets, which highlights the architecture of this attractive village. The history of the area from Roman times is highlighted in the Saddleworth Museum, which also has an art gallery with changing exhibitions. Running through the village is the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and the canal boat trips and boat traffic draw many visitors. Other attractions include Brownhills Countryside Centre, art galleries, restaurants, gift shops, numerous craft shops, public houses and tea shops.
