Matlock 4 miles; Bakewell 13 miles. Bonsall is a little village situated at the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the outskirts of the Peak District National Park, just 4 miles from Matlock. It was named in the Domesday Book, with history dating back to Roman times. This previous lead mining and textile producing village is famous for its 19 alleged UFO sightings, with the Barley Mow pub offering UFO walks, some of which have actually been filmed by the BBC! The county town of Matlock nearby, offers an array of shops, fine dining and in the middle of the town - Hall Leys Park offers mini golf, boating and tennis, together with an excellent children's play area. Explore The Heights of Abraham, Arkwright's Cromford Mill and Nine Ladies Stone Circle, or spend an exciting day out at the wonderful Gulliver's Kingdom. With the historic market town of Bakewell, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House and Park within touring distance, there is plenty to do and see at this fabulous location. The small original stone framed windows are an attractive feature of this property, as well as the spiral staircase, winding its way up through the middle of this splendid holiday home. The peaceful village pub is next door, with an hourly bus service to Cromford and Matlock running nearby. Within easy touring distance are the attractions of the Peaks, including Matlock, Bakewell, Gulliver's Kingdom and Chatsworth House.
