Photos and Description of this Helford holiday cottage recently converted sleeping up to four fully equipped and very comfortable

Bens is a single storey barn conversion which we fitted out last winter. (It is named after our former herdsman Ben Bailey who used it as his base at the farm for many years) It is next to the another of our cottages The Flower House, and it forms the lower boundary of the farm yard. It is similar in size to The Flower House, though the style is rather different being slightly minimalist and modern in its design. Goongillings is an organic farm surrounded by the lovely creeks of the Helford River, with our own private quay and boats available for visitors to use. There is abundant wildlife - and the whole farm is protected by the National Trust as an exceptionally beautiful natural site. A beautiful place to stay for peace and quiet in a perfect setting - yet close to all Cornwall's other attractions - coast, walks, beaches and so on

Local Attractions The small towns of Falmouth and Helston are about a quarter of an hour away, and Truro, the cathedral city of Cornwall is about 12 miles. The village of Constantine, about 10 minutes walk from the farm, has excellent small shops including butcher, 2 general stores, antique shops, and pub. In addition, The Trengilly Wartha Inn, a renowned pub and restaurant featured in both the good food guide and the good pub guide is just down the hill from the farm. There are excellent beaches, walks, coastline and famous gardens nearby as well as the lovely Helford River which surrounds the farm. St Ives, the Maritime Museum, the Seal Sanctuary and Eden project are a short drive away. This is the secluded and relatively uncrowded area of Cornwall, and Goongillings, tucked down a long narrow lane, provides complete privacy and tranquility in a beautiful location.

The open plan living area has had to be well thought out as space is at a premium. It is very light and airy as there are two of the original roof lights as well as stable doors and a large west facing French window. There is a modern leather sofa and Scandinavian easy chairs, and an attractive antique circular dining table and chairs, a video/tv combination and cd/radio. The floor is made of polished maple and with the high vaulted ceiling and pale décor the whole effect is modern light and airy. Sleeping accommodation is arranged in two bedrooms at the other end of the cottage both leading off a corridor which runs along the back of the cottage to the bathroom. One is a double bedroom, the other has twin 3’ beds. Unlike the Flower House there is no additional sleeping space in the roof area and there are no bunk-beds. The bathroom, in the far back corner of the cottage, contains a full sized bath and thermostatic power shower, along with washbasin and loo.

Also in the bathroom is the wallhung ‘combi’ gas boiler which heats the water and supplies radiators in every room, and a full sized washer drier.
