Matlock 4 miles; Bakewell 13 miles. Bonsall is a little village situated at the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the outskirts of the Peak District National Park, just 4 miles from Matlock. It was named in the Domesday Book, with history dating back to Roman times. This previous lead mining and textile producing village is famous for its 19 alleged UFO sightings, with the Barley Mow pub offering UFO walks, some of which have actually been filmed by the BBC! The county town of Matlock nearby, offers an array of shops, fine dining and in the middle of the town - Hall Leys Park offers mini golf, boating and tennis, together with an excellent children's play area. Explore The Heights of Abraham, Arkwright's Cromford Mill and Nine Ladies Stone Circle, or spend an exciting day out at the wonderful Gulliver's Kingdom.
