Converted from a former granary building, this attractive stone and pantiled semi-detached cottage is set in the heart of the scenic village of Levisham. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, this delightful, well laid out cottage offers lovely open plan accommodation. This is a perfect base for exploring the coast and North York Moors, including the maze of footpaths in the surrounding hills and valleys. About the Area: Pickering 6 miles; Whitby 17 miles; York 32 miles. High on the Yorkshire Moors, north of Pickering, sits the tiny, scenic village of Levisham. The village consists of a cluster of farms, pretty neat stone cottages with attractive gardens, a village green, pub and a church. There are shops and other amenities in Pickering, 6 miles away. Levisham Beck, rising in the nearby Hole of Horcum (where the devil is said to have fallen to earth) flows along a steep wooded valley close to the village, and at its foot is a watermill and small waterfall. This surrounding area is a maze of tracks and footpaths with some beautiful scenery. Nearby, Levisham station, in Newtondale, is a stopping point on the North York Moors Steam Railway, further beyond which lies Cropton Forest. This area is ideally located to visit castles, and historic houses, exploring the moorland villages and the many fishing communities along the coast, including popular Whitby.
