Beautiful restored 200 year old stone farmhouse full of character in a quiet rural setting bordering a national park in Normandy but within a short distance of safe sandy beaches. The house has a safe enclosed lawned garden with a paddock, orchard and parking facilities for three to four cars if necessary. Conveniently situated within an hours drive from Cherbourg Ferry port.

The house is situated in a quiet rural area but within about 15 minutes drive from the seaside village of Portbail and the town of St Sauveur le Vicomte. At Portbail there are safe sandy beaches , sailing and windsurfing and a good selection of bars an reasonably priced restaurants. Further up the coast are Denneville and the resort of Barneville Carteret both of which have safe beaches and which are popular holiday destinations for French ,Dutch and German families. There is a riding centre near the beach at Portbail. Shops and supermarkets are within easy reach both at Portbail, St Sauveur and La Haye du Puits. The property is within a one hour drive of the D Day landing beaches at Utah and Omaha and St Mere Eglise which was the first town in France to be liberated on D Day. Bayeux and Mont St Michel are about one and a half hours drive away.

The property has a living/ dining room with wood burning stove sofas and the original stone floor. Upstairs there is the main bedroom with an antique French bed and wardrobe. The second bedroom has twin single beds and an additional folding bed is available if required as is a cot.Much of the original French character to the property has been preserved. Some of the furniature in the main bedroom is original as are wooden floors and beamed ceilings. Heating for the downstairs part of the house is provided by a very effective Godin woodburning stove. Electric radiators are available in the two bedrooms. If you are looking for a house full of Ikea furniature then this probably isnt the one for you! If you are looking for somewhere quiet to chill out,read, take a quiet walk or bike ride in lovely countryside or spend time breathing clean air on a quiet beach then you need look no further.
