Lovely cottage, great location

Review Submitted: July 12, 2011 Date of Stay: July 2011
We enjoyed our week here very much. The cottage is warm, clean, comfortable and very well-equipped (stairgate, cot and high-chair for little ones, lots of kitchen utensils, even plastic plates, bowls, cutlery and tupperware for your picnics, games, books, garden chairs and loungers, BBQ...) - the owners have thought of everything. Our only suggestion for improvement would be for them to provide bed linen and towels - with a car full of kiddy holiday gear, it would have been one less bag to bring. For info for future visitors, the master double is 5ft 6inches wide (with approx 6ft wide duvet) and the downstairs double is 4ft 6inches wide (we didn't use the duvet so I can't say what size it was!). The single beds are both standard size (3ft).

The views from the terrace and garden are unrivalled, and the cottage is in a good location to quickly get to lovely sandy beaches, Swanage, Wareham, ferries to Brownsea Island, etc.

The pub is close (pub garden adjoins the cottage garden), but didn't bother us at all; apart from a gentle buzz of chat around mealtimes from outdoor drinkers and diners we wouldn't have known it was there.

So all in all, highly recommended!

Charming cottage- peaceful location.

Review Submitted: August 13, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
We have stayed at castleview cottage every August for the last three years and find it suits our needs very well. For a family with one or two young children the second double bedroom and separate bathroom means that friends or grandparents can also be included.

The cottage has a small very well equipped kitchen, a washing machine a good stock of books and games, a big garden with great views, a terrace wit a good size barbecue and a separate dining room- which is useful when the weather is bad.

The cottage is always clean when we arrive and everything is in good working order with clear instructions for use.

Swanage may not be everyone's Mecca apropos holiday resorts, but the surrounding countryside is indisputably beautiful . For a family with young children there is something for everyone - sandy beaches, clean seawater, wonderful walks, pitch and put, crazy golf, deep sea fishing and a carnival with an impressive firework display in August.

Castleview Cottage - a wonderful place to relax

Review Submitted: February 25, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2009
There is something for everyone here - and we can heartily recommend it for those in need of healthy walks along the coast path or studying wildlife in the various nature reserves around. There are NT properties to visit nearby, including the Clouds Hill cottage of T.E. Lawrence when he enlisted in the RAF and wanted to live incognito. Nearby also is the charming town of Wareham where his tomb in a lovely old church is worth a visit. There are endless places to interest the visitor and usually not enough time to go there.

The cottage is warm and well-supplied with all you need in the way of equipment, with clear instructions on how to use the appliances. There is a spacious sitting-room and more space to spread out in if the weather is wet, with games for the children, TV, video, masses of books and an open fire to sit by. Upstairs, there is a good shower off one bedroom and a good bath in the second bathroom - plenty of bedding and everything well-maintained for comfort.

The jewel of the cottage is the large and pretty garden and the view from there is spectacular. Many, many cups of tea or coffee (or in the evening your apperitifs) are enhanced by drinking in the amazing sight below as you sip, with the dramatic castle picking up the evening light and the occasional puff of smoke heralding the steam train from Corfe to Swanage as it wends its way through the view. (A ride on this is a must for children).
We spent a lot of time here, after strenuous walk or visits to place of interest around. We can heartily recommend this cottage for a quiet and relaxing stay for people of all ages and at any time of year. Those that visit it always want to return.
