Our house is available for letting all year round. It is very secluded and set in extremely peaceful countryside. It is an ideal place for rediscovering peace, relaxation and good living; it can accommodate 8-10 people and has a (10x5m) newly fenced swimming pool. The house is on a quiet country lane and set in 5 acres of garden, field and trees, in between the Bastide towns of Eymet and Castillones. It is set in an extremely secluded and tranquil spot. The recently renovated house is comfortably furnished throughout with modern furniture.

The house is well situated for visiting the sights and delights of both the Dordogne and Lot regions of SW France, being halfway between the two rivers. The towns of Eymet and Castillones have plenty of events throughout the summer with guided tours offered of these bastide towns available through the tourist offices on a weekly basis. Medieval Festivals and events occur throughout the month of August. Beautiful chateaux to visit perch on the cliffs above both rivers, and caves go deep underground. The rivers themselves offer a wealth of water sports, canoeing, fishing, swimming, and bird watching. There are all sorts of attractions to go and visit something for every taste, and every variety of weather. There are museums, art galleries, potters, paper makers, silk painters and wood turners. There are prehistoric parks, water parks, animal parks amusement and technology parks. There is a whole village showing life ‘as it was’, aquariums, zoos, and farms.

On the upper floor there is a double bedroom with king size bed, a twin bedded room and a full bathroom. There is also a double sofa bed available for use. On the lower floor there is another double bedroom with king size bed and a twin bedded room. There is also a second shower room. The open-plan living room comprises a sitting area with two large sofas with a fire place in the corner. There is a TV, DVD, Sony Playstation2, radio and music centre. The dining room has a large table, which can seat ten people. A highchair is also available for use. There is an extremely well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, halogen/ceramic hob and electric oven. French doors lead out from the lounge onto the front terrace with flower beds and trees in abundance. A path leads down to the pool and terrace area which has a built-in BBQ adjacent. The fully fenced pool leads onto the grass lawn which is lined by a variety of fruit trees.

Garden furniture is provided in this area with parasols and a pergola to provide shade. The house basement has a utility area at the rear with a washing machine and tumble dryer. The house is available throughout the year and is generally let from Wednesday to Wednesday, allowing you full weekends, when most events tend to happen, and easier booking of your travel arrangements. The price includes bed linen, towels, electricity and water. No pets are permitted.

Peace and Tranquility in the Sun

We spent 2 fabulous weeks in Lestoc during a hot and sunny August. Having been given lots of information from the owner we had no trouble finding it although the satnav was invaluable for travel in the surrounding area.

The house is perfect for unwinding and relaxing, the quiet and tranquility only broken by the odd jay or green woodpecker in the nearby woods. The house is clean, fresh and uncluttered, containing everything you need and more; the DVD player kept our three young children amused during their early morning starts! The kids (and adults) loved the pool, which also has a large area around it for sunbathing with lovely views of the garden, fields and woods beyond. The pool area is very safe for children with unobtrusive clear fencing and security gate. The local couple who service the pool were lovely and gave excellent advice on what to do and where to go.

There are lovely walks nearby taking in the woods - just minutes from the house we spotted numerous roe deer and even a pine marten. With a car essential, in around an hour we were at Beynac where canoeing the Dordogne is the best way to take in the stunning scenery (up to 4 in a canoe and very well organised). The cave drawings near Les Eyzies are also recommended and on a rare cloudy day a trip to Walibi Theme Park kept us all amused. Most of the local towns have markets with Issegeac particularly good and Bergerac also worth a visit. Even closer to home Eymet and Lauzun are lovely villages to while away an hour or two. The Carrefour supermarket just 10 minutes away in Eymet was well stocked and we were very impressed with the local restaurants where the quality was excellent (as you would expect in France) and also much cheaper than at home in the UK. For a bit of class Chez Alain in Issegeac is recommended and the pizzeria in Eymet was also very good but does get very busy.

This was our first visit to this part of France and first holiday away from the coast and we cannot wait to return.
