Nestling between Rame Head and the fishing town of Looe on this quiet, unspoilt part of the south east Cornwall coast, Downderry stretches along the coast road and has a sand and rock pool beach. Rolling hills sweep behind the village, with a walk to a sight seeing hut which gives a fabulous view out to sea, Whitsand Bay, and to the famous Eddystone Lighthouse, 14 miles away.

This is an ideal base from which to visit Cornwall’s attractions, the Eden project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and the fishing villages of Looe and Polperro. There are many National Trust houses (Anthony house, Cothele to name just a few). The Mount Edgecombe house and estate provide glorious views across the River Tamar to Plymouth. For those who enjoy walking, the coast path passes through Downderry. Fishing (fly, coarse at nearby Bakes lakes & sea mainly at Looe), golf and diving.

HMS Scylla in Whitsand Bay has created the UK‘s first artificial reef. Across the River Tamar via the Torpoint ferry or Tamar Bridge is Plymouth, home to the National Aquarium, historic Barbican and Plymouth City for shopping.

The Theatre Royal brings new productions to Plymouth in the autumn and winter months.

This stylish apartment is part of a small complex with it's own parking space, situated on the sunny side, next to an old horse chestnut tree. From a large decked area with patio table and chairs there is a view down the valley to the sea, and green fields opposite.

The open plan lounge/modern fully fiitted kitchenette is sunny and light. A home from home with comfy leather settees, TV (sky free view) & DVD/CD player. There are two bedrooms - the blue and white double bedroom is bright and fresh, and the single bedroom with bunk beds has a nautical theme. From the large patio window the view again stretches down the valley to the sea, and on the horizon is our namesake the Eddystone Lighthouse.

Downderry provides every day needs with a shop, coffee shop, restuarant and a pub which overlooks the beach. Watch the sun go down over Looe Island.

An ideal spot for couples wanting a relaxing break, or a safe beach holiday for families.

Just a 10 minute drive to Looe Golf Club at Bindown.

Small golf course at Whitsand Bay hotel. (5 minute drive)

Thank you so much for the comfortable stay at this beautiful, cosy and trendy apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed Polperro(the boat trip to Fowey) and crabbing at Looe. Evening walks to Downderry beach, and what to say about lovely Seaton beach!Your apartment was a home from home experience. Hope to visit Eddystone again. Thank you.

Wonderful place here in Downderry.

We travelled about 1600 km from Berlin, Germany to this wonderful place here in Downderry! We enjoyed every single day, visited a lot of lovely places in the nearby area. We liked to stay longer than 2 weeks- hope to come back soon! Thanks.

Enjoyed amazing sunshine every day!. Apartment perfect-all slept well. Had great days out-walking along the beach to Seaton -beach cafe highly recommended. Anthony House and extensive gardens was worth exploring with Alice and Wonderland themes. Kingsand and Cawsand really worth visiting. We also enjoyed the boat trip across to Plymouth from Cawsand-takes you right to the Barbican area. We've had a great holiday, shame we can't stay longer.

Lovely, comfortable apartment.

Such a lovely comfortable apartment with everything you need- a proper home from home. A quiet spot for relaxing and the view out to sea makes it special. We love walking and enjoyed the coastal path from Looe to Polperro, and being on Bodmin Moor. Thanks Gill - We'll be back.
