Details:
The house sleeps 2 to 5 and comprises:
Ground floor: A spacious double bedroom with single bedroom and bathroom leading off. The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower and a washing machine. The double bedroom includes seating and a fireplace that can be used in winter. Thick stone walls mean that the rooms are relatively cool even in the height of summer.
First floor: A living room/kitchen/diner and very small terrace. The living area includes a double sofabed. The kitchen area has an oven, with hob and grill, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and all the pots, pans and crockery you would need for self-catering. (New kitchen units, sink and worktop were installed in April 07). Views from the kitchen window are breathtaking. The very small private terrace is suitable for two to sit, enjoy the sun and eat.
The accommodation is most suitable for a couple or small family but please note that the ancient stone staircase to the first floor is quite steep and would be unsuitable for toddlers or the disabled. The house is all electric. There is no TV but there is a stereo radio-cassette player, WiFi (or wired) internet access and a telephone. There are plenty of heaters for winter use and fans for the summer.
Cucuron is a small village (pop. 1800) at the foot of the southern slopes of the Luberon range. It is agricultural, and is surrounded by some fields of wheat and fruit trees, and increasingly, by vineyards. The view from the top of the hill near Le Point is fine, and well seen in the film 'Horseman on the roof'. (The area is often used for filming - the nearby village of Vaugines was the location for Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources and Cucuron was also used in 'A Good Year').
A special feature of the village is the old carp pond (Etang) surrounded by plane trees where the weekly market is held on Tuesdays. Cucuron has four restaurants within easy walking distance of Le Point.
