Apple Orchard is a lovely french country house amidst a rural setting, elegantly furnished, central heating throughout and well equipped. Previously a 'cider house' - which still has its old cider press - it sits above a peaceful country lane, nestling on the cusp of a tiny 16th Century church hamlet. It boasts its own Orchard with 70+ Apple trees and a fig tree and has a natural boundary of trees and fauna. Enjoy a lazy afternoon game of boules in Apple Orchard's own boules court with friends and family whilst enjoying cheese and wine round the adjacent stone table. Or, enjoy the indoor games room which has table tennis, pool and darts. There is an above ground pool for the kids to play in and adults to cool off and plenty of grassy playing areas around the 2.5 acre plot. The front terrace boasts unbroken rural views and lovely sunsets whilst enjoying a meal 'al Fresco'. The country kitchen is well equipped and there are two shower/bath rooms and two separate toilets.

Local leisure: Golf 8 kms - Beautiful but challenging 9 hole course in the grounds of an old chateau ruin overlooking the Blavet Valley (Golf de Rimaison), Bike Hire & River Boat Trips - 10 mins (St Nicolas des Eaux) Fishing & Canoeing - 30 mins (Lake Guerledan), Karting 2km - on the D2 to Pontivy. 30 minutes from Melrand is Lake Guerledan, a 400-hectare looking-glass with 4 beaches, set in the Blavet Valley. If you want to explore the lake and its dam, you can hire motor boats, dinghies and canoes for reasonable prices. For even more thrills you can go on to paddle canoes over the canoe slides on the Nantes-Brest Canal.

  • Overnights include the end date shown. Linen is provided by arrangement 5 days in advance of your arrival as detailed in our arrivals pack. Please note: There is a bedding only service provided in Winter months and therefore guests booking over this period will be required to bring their own linen.

    The arrivals pack also provides directions to Apple Orchard along with key collection arrangements and offers some helpful tips and details of local amenities and interesting places to visit. The arrivals pack is sent to you by email or post on receipt of final payment.

    There is also a welcome pack at Apple Orchard which provides information on the use of the key appliances, utilities and services and provides other useful information.
  • Arrival: Saturday 16.00 or later. Departure: By 10.30am please on the Saturday morning of your departure due to our changeover services. Please note: Over the Xmas and New Year periods access will be available from 14.00 on day of arrival (as this is a midweek day) and Apple Orchard must be vacated by 10.30am the day after the end date of your booked period due to scheduled changoeovers.

    We can provide a meal on arrival service or small (50 Euros) or large hampers (70 Euros) which will ease you in to your holiday for the first 1-2 days and can augment your main shopping basket.

Mornings are filled with sweet birdsong and there are unspoilt views from its galleried sun terrace - of the sun setting below the green fields opposite whilst you enjoy the evening ambience and a few drinks or a meal. The house boasts its own 1 acre garden with an orchard of over 70 trees planted in lines, which in Spring and Summer form green tunnels of natural shade and there is complimentary and exclusive use of a 15' above ground pool. The country house is a 150yd walk to the 400 year old chapel and access to a natural spring, open forest walks and tracks suitable for biking. Four large bedrooms sleep 8 and there are 2 put-u-up beds suitable for children or young adults.

Our holiday to Apple Orchard was wonderful. The house was beautifully decorated and very well equipped. All the bedrooms very extremely comfortable. Everything you needed for your holiday was there. The games room was brilliant for our teenagers (and some of the adults!) The grounds were very well maintained and offered plenty of space and activities for all the family. The setting was so peaceful, making it easy for us to relax and recharge our batteries. We really enjoyed the long summer evenings in the orchard or just sitting on the patio or even playing boules. The local people were very friendly, stopping for a chat. Apple Orchard is ideally situated to explore all the surrounding countryside and within easy access of the coast.
The booking proccess was very easy and all information provided was very acurate and informative, giving us plenty of suggestions on what to do and where to go during our stay. We have some fantastic memories of our holiday at Apple Orchard and would have no hesitation in recommending it.
