Ideal for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and enjoy the peace of the countryside. Lounge around the terrace of our large heated swimming pool and enjoy our stunning climate, second only to the French Riviera in sunshine hours.

Le Chai is within easy reach of historic towns such as Cognac, with tours of the famous distilleries, Saintes, with its Roman amphitheatre and river excursions as well as the beautiful and ancient town of La Rochelle. Swimming and boating available at St Jean d'Angely, Cognac and Saintes. Golf at Cognac and Saintes. A wide variety of seaside resorts are only an hour away - Royan, Fouras and the long sandy beaches of the Ile d'Oleron. The internationally recognised La Palmyre Zoo is about an hour away and the European species zoo is quite close, along with the rare Poitou donkey breeding centre. Excellent restaurants serving local seafood specialities are within 30 mins drive. Local towns and villages have markets, car boot sales (brocantes), concerts and activities through the season. The tourist offices are very helpful and are used to English visitors. We have been complimented on the peaceful setting, looking out over fields and the wonderful heated pool.

The cottage is situated in an original stone built Charentaise barn which has been fully modernised to cater for your every need. An up to date interior blends with the original French surroundings. The cottage is set on the edge of a small quiet village in a beautiful rural landscape with vines and sunflowers in the heart of Cognac country. There is an 11 x 5m heated swimming pool and terrace for sunbathing as well as a patio area and barbecue. The gite consists of a mezzanine double bedroom with wardrobe and chest of drawers, open-plan kitchen/living area and shower room with WC and wash basin. There is a DVD/CD player.
