Photos and Description of this Northern Scottish Highlands holiday house
3 bedrooms, games room for wet days, library of books, games, DVDs etc

Just a short stroll from the sea, this detached Nordic-style house boasts great views and is equipped with every modern convenience. It's a private family house, with every item left out for guests to enjoy. Nestling in a tranquil setting, the house lies close to Gairloch with its award-winning restaurants, pubs and visitor attractions. Unusually, Gairloch is open and thriving all year round (although a few attractions and restaurants do shut over the winter). Local activities include walking, golf, sailing hire (and tuition), fishing, climbing and bird-watching - otters, golden eagles and sea eagles are seen regularly. Boat trips to the Shiant Isles with the massive puffin colony are a must (in season). Dolphin, porpoise (from shore or boat) and whale watching (particularly Minke whales) are all available. Applecross (& Monty Hall's 'croft'!) is a lovely drive through Torridon from Gairloch.

The nearest village is Gairloch, a grouping of crofting hamlets around the village centre. Spread over a wide area, it is larger than it looks. Unlike many other Highland villages, it is open and thriving all year round. The area has award-winning restaurants and pubs. It offers the best views and mountains you can find in the UK. If you're interested in walking, fishing, sailing, pottering, eating, swimming - just enjoying the best of Scotland - this is the place. The Rowans

Review Submitted: January 30, 2012 Date of Stay: February 2011
Luscious Highlands,
Picturesque seaside location. The Rowans is surrounded by some of Scotland's finest mountain scenery. This relaxing house is perfectly located for exploring the north-west Highlands. We saw some spectacular mountains, secluded beaches and took some adventurous walks.

The Rowans was everything and much more than what was on the listings. Clean, comfortable and equipped for almost every eventuality. There is a homely feeling, friendly locals and great places to eat.
The best part for us was the idyllic beach.
No matter, rain or shine, there’s something for everyone at The Rowans.

Stunning location perfect house

Review Submitted: January 27, 2012 Date of Stay: August 2010
The Rowans is perfect for those wanting to stay in this stunning North Erradale location. The house offers all the modern facilities you would want located in the middle of this lovely coastline offering fantastic walks, views and wild life.
Nearby you can enjoy a wide range (price and quality) of places to eat and drink as well local stores to stock up on important necessities such as peat and red wine!
I would highly recommend The Rowans for anyone wanting a break in this breathtaking location.

Tattie holidays with the family

Review Submitted: June 29, 2011 Date of Stay: October 2010
A great base for a family to explore the Gairloch area. Plenty of walks nearby and a 10 minute stroll to a wonderful stoney beach where we had a seal following us on a coastal walk. Kids loved the pool table and we watched Shrek on the big screen. Super homely place to relax, thanks a lot.

The house is really awesome

Review Submitted: November 13, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
Hi,

Just wanted to let you know I had a great time in Scotland !

Unfortunately, I missed the northern lights (what a shame, been dying to see
that for ages !!) as I was too busy cooking and unpacking...

The house is really awesome ; it really felt like home and i'd be glad to come
back someday.

All the best,

[GUEST FROM FRANCE]
