Passo a Sella is an old farm house, set in the hills just North of Lucca. It has been restored in typical Tuscan fashion. There is a large terrace area to enjoy the fabulous vista, whilst dining, or just sipping your prosecco and relaxing. The house sleeps four people, in one double bedded room and one twin bedded room. The living room has a fire place for the cooler autumn evenings.
The front door opens onto the large terrace which catches the sun for most of the day during the summer. The house is well situated for walking, perhaps taking a hike, to build the appetite ready for the evening feasts. The bathroom has a large shower, wash basin, toilet and bidet. There is another toilet and shower area, useable in the warmer months, in the outhouse. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering with all the usual necessities. The worktop is a pink Sardinian granite, the doors are chestnut (castagne), of which there are many in the woods.
The pool is an above ground type, approx 12ft across, and 3.5 ft deep.
The nearest village, Pescaglia, is about 8 minutes in the car. It has 2 shops, a cafe, a bank, and many churches. There are many restaurants dotted around the hillside, all offering a gastronomic feast. The nearest restaurant is about 2 minutes away, this is also a small shop that always seems to be very well stocked with fresh produce. The Italians are fanatical about their food!
San Gimignano and Siena are within easy reach, as is Bagni di Lucca, another famous spa town. The beaches are easily reached in about 50 minutes, with Carrara the backdrop to the coast.....a fantastic vista. Viareggio and Camaiore are the closest beach resorts, very popular with the Italians through the summer(Carrara, of course the home to the Carrara marble industry).
There are many other towns and villages which all have their own quaint charms, and awaiting your exploration. The area is just saturated in 'history'.
