There are several art galleries and museums to visit as you tour the town. For the active, there are many local walks, a swimming pool, golf course, tennis courts, bowling, and much more in the local area. Loch Ken sailing club is only a short drive away, where they offer all sorts of water sports, great for those wanting to try their hand at something new. For the golfers there are over 30 golf courses to choose from in Dumfries and Galloway. Those interested in bird watching will be delighted at the many opportunities to see rare seabirds and wildfowl in some of the most spectacular countryside this area has to offer. Kirkcudbright is only a short drive away from the RSPB sanctuary at Mersehead.
