This is a tastefully decorated, sunny third floor flat right in the heart of the beautiful medieval city of Carcassonne (in the Bastide Saint Louis), with its famous restored Cite. It enjoys wonderful uninterrupted views over the terracotta roofs of the original old town and is a stone's throw from the lively central square of Carcassonne, the Place Carnot, with its popular, colourful market and many outdoor cafes. The property is fully equipped with washing machine, shower and all linen and towels are provided, as is information about the many activities and tourist sites in the region. There is no car parking available directly outside the building but there is free car parking further down the street and in two car parks a minute's walk away. This is an ideal holiday base to enjoy the many tourist attractions of Carcassonne and is particularly suitable for those without a car as it is so centrally placed near the train station. It has been enjoyed and appreciated by many guests

Nearest Airport: Carcassonne at 5 Miles
Car: not necessary
Many local restaurants, cafes and pubs. There is a good and celebrated Irish pub in the same street (which is actually totally silent from the outside!) The Canal du Midi runs through Carcassonne and there are boat trips, bicycles for hire and many trips to surrounding areas of historical interest. The Black Mountains are a short drive away and offer some dramatic scenery. The Mediterrenean is very accessible with good tourist beaches close by; the coastline running down to the Spanish border is filled with charming towns and more deserted, hideaway beaches.

The flat has two bedrooms, a large sitting room overlooking the terracotta roofs of the old town, and a fully equipped kitchen (plus bathroom with shower). It is situated 10 minutes walk from the central train station and about 15 from the medieval Cite; there are daily cheap flights to Carcassonne with Ryanair from Stansted (and twice-weekly flights from Dublin). Carcassonne is rich in historical interest, a centre of the fascinating Cathar sect, and is 40 minutes drive from the Mediterranean and not far from the Pyrenees and the Spanish border. There are many local activities such as cycling, riding and trekking with the famous Canal du Midi running through the city.

Idyllic Apartment

This apartment was brilliant, I would absolutely recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in Carcassonne, it is right in the center of the Bastide St. Louis, so as soon as you step out the front door your in the middle of all the action. Just round the corner is the 'Place Carnot' which is a mass of cafes spilling out into a central square with the fantastic 'La Fontaine De Neptune', and there is a busy market here 3 x a week (I think!) So in terms of location, this apartment couldn't be better.

The apartment itself has a wonderful calming atmosphere and is tastefully decorated to a very high standard. There is everything you'd ever need and more, plenty of blankets, sheets and pillows, lot of reading material, (Including some fantastic books) and even family boardgames.

There is room enough to comfortably sleep 6, but still cheap enough for much smaller groups to afford.

I'd definately come here again, even the stairs didn't put us off at all and I hope other folk enjoy it as much as we did!
