St. Valery is an ideal holiday base for visiting the many places of interest which are within easy reach of the town. St. Valery was the point from which William the Conqueror set sail for England and is still a traditional fishing port which also provides a fine Sunday market for local smallholders and others. A narrow gauge steam railway operates across the salt marshes to Le Crotoy. The town is within easy reach of the beaches along the Cote d'Opal coast as well as places of interest inland.
