Gower was Britain's first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the unspoilt, near empty Whitford Burrows, a Natural Trust Conservation Area, is a short walk away where rare birds and plants such as orchids can be seen. This corner of Gower is very special as the fresh water marsh meets the sea water marsh, providing a unique habitat for flora and fauna, including the wild ponies which graze here. Kingfishers, herons, barnowls, woodpeckers and bats are often seen in the garden. Sheep and wild horses roam the hills and roads around Llanmadoc and Cheriton. Llangennith is 3 miles away, which has one of Britain's best surfing beaches.
There is plenty to do on Gower, such as walking, bird watching, ponty trekking, surfing, windsurfing, fishing, cycling etc. Gower has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There are many pubs and restaurants on Gower serving excellent food, including the renowned Fairy Hill, which is about 3 miles away.
