Photos and Description of this Manche holiday farmhouse Twin bedded gite in the middle of tranquil Normandy countryside.

We bought our old farm in 1998 and have spent much time and care renovating it. We love the peace and tranquillity of the area and the fabulous local produce. The gite was finished in 2005, and is fully self contained. It is set in an acre and a half of Normandy countryside, with small farms on all sides. However, Avranches, the major town in the area, is only 10 minutes away. Although it is ideal for 2, with the ensuite twin bedroom, two more people can be accommodated on the sofa bed downstairs and a cot and stairguard can be provided. Travel to the gite is very easy, with many options. The drive from the ferry ports of St Malo and Caen takes approximately 1 hour, and reduced rates for renters can be arranged with Brittany ferries. Cherbourg, Le Havre, Dieppe and Roscoff take slightly longer. The airports at Dinard and Rennes are 1 hour away. Because the French motorways are so good and uncrowded, the drive from Calais or the Eurotunnel terminal is a delight, taking about 4 hours

Things to Do The local beaches of Carolles are wonderful for children and adults of all ages, with gently sloping sand and fascinating rock pools. Many beaches hire out windsurfers and dinghies and most are patrolled for added safety. Try sailing, horse riding, go carting, sand yachting, or even a microlight trip over Mont St Michel. There are 6 golf courses within easy reach. The nearby river, La Selune, is said to be France's premier salmon fishing river and in season, licences can be bought from local shops. Both Avranches and Brecey have swimming pools. There is a cinema at Avranches and a zoo at Champrepus. St Malo and Granville have Casinos and many chic boutiques. There are wonderful walks, with super views over the pretty Normandy countryside and Mont St Michel. Many of these walks are signposted, as are the numerous cycle routes. Local Attractions For those interested in history, you must visit the old town of Bayeux and its famous tapestry.

The fully equipped kitchen has a gas hob, microwave oven, fridge with small freezer and dishwasher. The keen cook will find a good selection of kitchen tools and saucepans and sufficient crockery, cutlery and glasses. for 4 people. In the dining area, there is a table and 4 chairs. We have satellite TV so can receive English TV and radio programmes.A DVD/CD player is provided and a selection of English and French paperback books, some guide books and games. The guest book lists some of our favourite restaurants and we would be delighted if you add to the list. The sofa bed can comfortably sleep 2 people. The first floor is galleried. It has twin beds, with an ensuite shower room and there is a separate WC with hand basin. For al fresco eating,there is a picnic table, 4 chairs, and barbecue in the garden. The building is well insulated, and is delightfully cool in summer and easily heated in winter.There is ample car parking.
