The apartment of 50 sq.m. is in the recently restructured attic , simply but pleasantly decorated, with wooden beams and tiled floors. The french windows open onto the large terrace , with plenty of space for sunbathing, eating - or even playing mini-basketball! In the spring the wisteria frames the view of Palombara.
The land around Villa Elsa has olive trees and a vineyard - we produce our own oil and wine ( you'll find a complimentary bottle of each when you arrive , and you can buy more if you want).
It's very easy to get here from the main airport , as there is a direct train line - but the ideal is to rent a car so that you can explore the surrounding area. The local train station has a large car park and there's also a bus service . The nearest village (Cretone) is 4km away and has a couple of caffes - with homemade icecream in the summer , 2 small supermarkets , a great bakery and a pizzeria.
Palombara is 10 minutes drive( there's also a bus service) and is an attractive town with the mountain as a backdrop. Hereyou can find more of a selection of shops , restaurants and caffes , as well as the recently restored 11th century castle. Nearby there are various sites worth visiting - a short walk will take you to the ruins of Castiglione , an ancient citadel also known as Palombara Vecchia - or a 5 minute drive to Stazzano Vecchio , a small village abandoned 100 years ago after an earthquake.
