Photos and Description of this High Peak District holiday cottage

A romantic home from home with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. Orriginally a bakery, Oatcake Cottage was built in 1690 of limestone and nestles below Peveril Castle in a quiet, rural backwater in the popular village of Castleton. It has many orriginal features including two 7 feet long stone troughs which feature on the small forecourt, a gritstone fireplace and exposed beams and trusses. A quaint dining room with french doors leads out into the beautiful private, enclosed terraced garden with spectacular views where you can sit in the evenings with a glass of wine. Short Breaks taken (excluding July and August). Late Lets. Last minute deals always available - ring Angela or Terry on 01433 670014.

Dramatic gritstone edges, wild heather moorlands and gentle limestone dales make the Peak District National Park one of Britain's best-loved landscapes so no wonder it was Britains 1st National Park. It's renowned for its pretty villages, beautiful scenery, good walkes in the hills and stately homes. The Peak District is perfect for couples or families as it has something to suit everyone whether it's a walk in the hills, caving, hangliding or just pottering. Castleton itself has many facilities including a handful of good pubs, plenty of places to eat and lots of little shops open all year round. If you prefer you can park the car for a few days and enjoy the whole holiday entriely on foot! All of the village hostelries serve super quality food and ale, the visitors' book gives previous guests' thoughts on the best ones! There are also three lovely country tea shops and a restaurant, all run by local residents.
