Welcome to Baille Hill House, the only self catering holiday cottage in York city centre that accommodates 10 people.

This Georgian style town house overlooks the medieval city walls. It is more convenient than any other large holiday cottage in York. All the food stores, pubs and restaurants you could need are less than 5 minutes walk. You can walk to all the major York historic buildings and shopping areas. You will find it well placed for day trips to many other Yorkshire holiday attractions and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Your holiday accommodation is located on Bishops Wharf, which is a quiet riverside development with direct access to riverside walks.

We have private parking for up to 3 cars, which in York is a real advantage.

We have nothing to hide, you see it all here, what it looks like, the facilities, the furniture and decor, the location, the area and the prices. Please take a look, we hope you will like it.

The quality of accommodation and service has led to the house being awarded a 5 star rating by the ETC quality assurance scheme.

Having been on self catering holidays where the cleaner had cleared the apartment and we had to go and buy salt, washing up liquid etc., we resolved to try and make things easier for our guests. You will find the beds made up when you arrive, a supply of towels and we always leave the house with stocks of cleaning materials, loo rolls, tea, coffee and biscuits as well as basic condiments. Please feel free to use any of them.

There is a parade of local shops just 1 minutes walk from the house. Here you can find everything you will need, grocery, greengrocers, butchers, fish and chips, cafe, videos, off licences, chemists, newsagents.

For a bit more special produce Marks and Spencer food hall is only 5 minutes walk and has a great selection of everything you might need.

Available all year, normal bookings are Friday to Friday

Baille House York

Baille House provided a great base for exploring York. A ten to fifteen minute walk and you are in the centre of York. Walkable for the train station too.
The house was clean and warm on arrival. A selection of basics were already at the house which was refreshing not having to rush out for essentials.
The house felt like a home and seven of us had ample space. The kitchen was well equipped with matching crockery, glasses and baking untensils. A good and useful quide was provided on house keeping and local amenites.

A very enjoyable stay and would recommend this property for people wanting a weekend break or a longer holiday.

Seeing the best of York

Lovely house in an ideal spot, so easy to stroll into York. Plenty of room for a crowd, enough toilets etc. Good quality furniture and furnishing, it looks even better than the pictures. Great places to eat in under 10 minutes - 31 Castlegate was superb and a lovely ice cream shop with lots of varieties opposite Clifford's tower- ideal on the walk home.
Worth visiting Jorvik early in the week as your entrance is valid a year, railway museum also brilliant. Small museums have joint entrance fees. Lots of little cafes for lunch in the city but very useful shops and deli round the corner from the house, really worth a browse.
No need to use the car so much within an easy walk. Highly recommended.

Baille Hill House

I stayed at this property in October 2010 and was really impressed.The car parking space was fab for the city of york. Fab location with easy walking distance into the centre. Bedrooms and facilities were bril would definately stay there again. The only thing that let the weekend down was the weather!!!!

Great house great location

The house was clean well furnished and extremely well equipped. Its in a great position with shops nearby but still only a few minutes from the centre of York. Would definitely book again.

Baille Hill House (BHH) - July 2010

Location, location, location !
BHH has a perfect, superior location for the city of York. Free, secure and safe parking at the rear of the property is where you can leave the car - you do not require it for the remainder of your visit. BHH is located beside small supermarkets, butchers, baker, coffee shops, off license, and 4 or 5 restaurants are within 3 mins walk.
The city of York is on the doorstep with everthing inside the walls is walkable within 10 mins.
House is great for 10 family/friendly people with sufficient equipment. Minor imporvement required is imporved TV reception in the main lounge (it was appalling) and coming from the USA - the TV in lounge and kitchen require to be larger and wallmounted appropriatly for convenience. (We were watching the golf)
Highly recommended and we would return tomorrow!

We have had the televisions checked and they are fine, the problem is the local transmitter which is currently giving out a low signal whilst it is being prepared for the digital changeover.
