Villa Kalypso and its separate pool terrace have olive groves, almond trees, a wild cherry tree, and a vineyard on 3 sides. The raised pool terrace is surrounded by grass and olive trees, as well as a low stone wall and wooden railings to ensure the safety of the younger members of the family, whilst not spoiling the beautiful views. Just below the pool are the lower garden, the BBQ, and a covered area housing a table tennis table, perfect for the more active guests. The olive trees in the shady lower garden are perfect for relaxing under with a book on a hot summer’s day. The large sea facing terraces and the pool area are well equipped with a large variety of comfortable outdoor furniture.
Inside the villa the furniture, doors and cupboards are traditionally Cretan made locally from a honey coloured wood. The upstairs rooms have incorporated the lovely high wood beamed ceilings, also very traditional.
The ground floor has an open plan living room with a sofa bed for extra sleeping, fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a twin bedroom, shower room tiled in blue and white and a large sea facing covered terrace for out door dining. The first floor has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom with bunk beds, a family bathroom with bath tub tiled in blue and white, and a large open terrace accessed from the bedrooms taking advantage of the stunning sea views.
The lovely village of Almyrida is only 750m from Villa Kalypso, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, and there is a good selection of tavernas, cafes and shops.
