Originally built as part of a Coaching Inn in around the 17th Century,this delightful cottage is situated in the peaceful hamlet of Ings in the heart of the Lake District National Park. It has recently been refurbished, with new kitchen, bathroom and en-suite facilities. The combination of charm and comfort with one of the best Lakeland pubs within 200 yards makes it difficult to beat. There is immediate access to beautiful walking country while at the same time being very close to all the major tourist attractions of the Southern Lakes.

Ideally located for walking, cycling, water sports or just ‘peace and quiet’!

NEWS. We now have a second larger cottage in Ings which has 3 double bedrooms and sleeps 6 in a very quiet location with spectacular views. The award winning Watermill Pub is within easy walking distance and offers excellent homemade food and guest beers.

Staveley village is one mile away with many local facilities including a Spar, butcher, artisan bakery, & chemist. The village has three pubs including the excellent Eagle and Child with bar food and restaurant. There is also a pretty garden and riverside terrace. There is also the Hawkshead Brewery complex, a popular venue for live jazz and folk.

Windermere has all the amenities you would expect (5 mins) with Booth's supermarket and the flagship Lakeland store. A full range of sporting activities is available including watersports, golf and horseriding.

For those you wish to leave the car behind,the cottage is 2 mins from the main bus route which links Lancaster and Keswick via Kendal.

Church View Cottage has a Visit England 3 Star rating.

Additional information about rental rates

  • The cottage is normally available from Sat to Sat but some flexibilty can be accommodated, particularly out of season. Visitors may arrive after 4.00pm and vacate by 10.00am. Again there may be some flexibility here outside peak times. For late bookings, we can offer some flexibility on the minimum stay although we do not offer one night rentals. In response to customer feedback, we are aware that some guests prefer to bring their own bedding and towels. We can reduce the rental rate by £15 pp per week. We reserve the right to add a charge for over 2 people for a short weekend.

The cottage sleeps five in three bedrooms and has delightful views of open countryside to both the front and rear. There is also a secluded south facing rear garden. Fully centrally heated with traditional stonewalls gives you warmth in the winter and stays cool in the summer.

Cosy lounge with exposed oak beams has a ‘living flame’ fire set in a natural stone fireplace. Colour TV, CD/radio. Two double sofas & easy chair. A local information pack is also available. The separate kitchen/dining room has recently been completely refurbished and is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, cooker and fridge with small freezer compartment.

First Floor:

Bathroom with bath/shower, washbasin, WC and airing cupboard. Large bedroom with ensuite shower, washbasin and wc . Pine double bed, dresser, wardrobe with views over the churchyard to the hills.

Second Floor

Front Bedroom with twin pine beds, dresser, wardrobe, chest of drawers.

Rear bedroom with pine bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and open views to countryside.

Outside

Easy parking to front of cottage. Well manicured safe south facing lawned & flower bordered garden plus cosy patio area. Outbuilding for bikes & toys. 2 tables & 8 chairs & BBQ for outside dining. Modern little used children’s play area nearby.

Had a wonderful time at the cottage. Plenty of snow with the children!! Cottage is in a lovely location with a great pub just around the corner. Lots of walks and different villages to explore. Very clean and cosy.

Lovely Cottage, highly recommended

We have stayed at this delightful cottage on 3 separate occasions, and always enjoy our stay. Ample room for 4 adults, several dogs, and a baby this time, we found it cosy and comfortable. The rooms are a decent size , the garden is secure and the area is very peaceful. The neighbours on either side are friendly, and the pub down the road offers excellent food and real ales.
The cottage is superbly situated for walking holidays

Fantastic Cottage - Would highly recommend

We spent a great long weekend at the cottage, primarily as we were in the Lakes for a family wedding. The cottage is a fantastic place to stay - and would suit all groups wanting a good base in the lakes. The cottage has got everything you need, and we will definitely go again and stay for longer next time. The pub in the village comes highly recommended too!

We arrived on Sunday afternoon as the sun shone bright and the leaves had began changing colour at the end of summer and very beggining of autumn. A quick unpack and off 100 yards to the local pub for a real ale and traditional Sunday lunch. Plenty others had a similar idea. Monday after collecing the papers, a brisk walk over the local fields admiring the countryside and back to a home made hearty breakfast. More of the same over the next 2 days. The appeal of staying in a cottage rather than confined to rooms in a hotel certainly is far more attractive. Clean, well maintained and close to Bowness and Ambleside, a quaint little cottage with good beds, fresh linen and towels. Definately worth another stay.
