Paphos is just a short drive away with it's historic harbour with medieval fort, good shops, bars, restaurants and exceptional night life. Paphos also has an amazing open market where you can while away a few hours.

If you are in to archaeology visit the Tombs of the Kings, with it's impressive under ground tombs. Also near the harbour is a mosaic site which contain floors from roman times. Other activities in Paphos are go karting, horse riding, diving, bowling, boat trips and many more.

There are two excellent golf courses within 10 minutes of the property being Secret Valley and Aphrodite Hills, both are open to the public but if you do not play golf they are well worth a visit for a drink or meal as the scenery is absolutely stunning and the food is excellent.

There are so many interesting places to visit. Take a leisurely drive to Troodos where you will pass many small villages, vinyards and a hoast of farming communities.

excellent

Review Submitted: October 10, 2011 Date of Stay: October 2011
We've been to Cyprus for a week. The house offers everything you would expect: from washing and dish mashine, a complete kitchen, tv, a great collection of movies on DVD, satellite tv, playstation, air conditioning (however in october we didn't need that much).

The house is new, I couldn't find it on google maps when searching for it :) and very clean. When we've arrived, a bottle of wine was awaiting us. Highly appreciated.
Everything was above what we've expected. I would recommend it to anybody.
As a note, if you are traveling from a different part of Europe, bring a power plug adapter with you, otherwise you cannot charge your phone or camera. Just google it to see if the same type of plug is used in your country as here. If you are coming from the UK you should be fine. Anyway, there's a small supermarket close to the town in the direction of Paphos, you can buy there.

Mandria is a very friendly place, it has a nice restaurant called 'Fish and chips'. Drop in, as the food is very good and the price is even better. Try the fish meze's and expect a big dish. Also try the local beers KEO or Leon, they both are very good. And in case not used to it, the large bottle has 63cl instead of 50cl. Very nice :)

There is a beach nearby (at about 2 Km s away) but you should definitely need a car, as the bus connection is not so good. You will find only a couple of buses, and during the weekends only 2. But Cyprus is worth visiting by car anyway.

If you are in Cyprus, try to explore the whole island. You will find very nice places that are not crowded with tourists. You can eat everywhere, the food is very good at an affordable price. I would definitely recommend to try all the seafoods. They are fresh and very good.

As places to visit, go to Paphos where you have the archeological sites, and the Tomb of the Kings. Then you can take a hike near the Aphrodite's bath or in the Troodos mountains. Also is worth driving alon the western coast up north until the border, then came back in the mountains in the middle of the island. The landscape is beautiful.

If you want a sandy beach, go to Coral Bay, very close to Paphos. If you prefer a more crowded town, try Agia Napa, on the other side of the island. There is also a nice beach, called Nisi.

If you already don't know, the driving is on the left side of the road and if you are used on the right side, then it will take some time to accomodate.

Will definitely go back here

We had a great 2 weeks in Mandria a lovely village, the house was great had everything we needed. The people who live there were very helpful recommending places to eat. We hired a car for the 2 weeks and covered every bit of the island. I would stay here again.

Midwinter Break at A House Called Alice

Review Submitted: February 23, 2010 Date of Stay: February 2010
This was our first trip to Cyprus and we wanted a small house as a base to explore the western end of the island. Barry and Shirley's house could not have been better. It is a spacious, 2 bedroom terraced house in the recently built complex in Mandria, and is beautifully furnished throughout - almost like being at home!

The kitchen is well stocked (somebody had walked off with the corkscrew :-( but we replaced it!) and had plenty of pots and pans etc. There were other useful items such as a clothes airer and an ironing board.

There was plenty to do indoors, with satellite TV, a stereo with CD's, loads of DVD's and a PlayStation 2 with oodles of games - so it would be good for children/teenagers.

Many of the neighbours are ex-pat Brits who have foresaken the cold UK climate for Cypriot sunshine, but you could not wish to meet a friendlier bunch. They were all very chatty and hospitable, giving us good tips on where to visti and eat.

Mandria is well situated for visiting the historic sites in Pafos, Kouklia and further afield (our main purpose), and we also took a day outing to the Troodos mountains. The village itself has a good selection of tavernas offering good Greek and English food, and cooling bottles of Cypriot beer.

Barry and Shirley were helpful during the booking process, and before we set out for Cyprus.

All-in-all we were very pleased with our choice for our first trip to Cyprus!

The holiday was the best ever! The house is very well equiped, home from home. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool, had trouble getting them out.Mandria is a lovely village with excellents bistros etc and the people are very friendly. We also enjoyed the nightlife in Paphos and the other local beaches and tourist spots. Can't wait to go again!!
