At home in St Jean Le Thomas

We have been taking holidays in France for over 20 years. We have stayed in numerous Gites both French and British owned, Mainly in the Normandy or Western France. We have left some of them wishing never to return. We have often found that the owners description has been less than accurate, e.g. "A beautiful holiday home" is actually an old run down property that needs a lot of work done to make it passable as habitable.
However. We have now twice stayed at property owned by David and Alex and each time we felt it was home from home. They have thought of everything you might need and that includes a very nice welcome pack. There is an English style cooker with a grill, not something you often see in France. There is a toaster, a microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer and everything you might need to make your stay as comfortable as you could wish for.
St Jean Le Thomas is an excellent base from which to explore the area with many towns like St Malo, Dinant, Avranches, Les Peoles, Granville well within a 45 min drive
The area is beautiful and not over commercialised.
We always take our Yorkshire Terrier (Monty) and with the many interesting walks both locally and in Normandy generally, It's a pleasure to go for walks knowing that when we get tired there always seems to be a bar or a cafe' close by where we can sit, eat, drink and people watch.
David and Alex live in a similar cottage about 50 yards away. They do not impose themselves on you. However they are always willing to help in any way they can. All you have to do is either phone them or, much more pleasureable, knock on their door and discuss things with them over a glass of wine (very civilised).
There a few shops in the village a bakery, general store which sells just about everything and a butchers which comes in handy for the barbecue steaks.
There is a hotel which welcomes passersby for that afternoon/evening drink or a meal.
I could go on but I probably bore you with our enthusiasm.
So don't expect me to tell you more, If you fancy a relatively quiet area of Normandy with the ability to live things up if you want, go and experience St Jean Le Thomas for yourselves. You won't be disappointed.
