In a great location, with large garden and 12' trampoline, new for 2012

Burnside is situated in the beautiful thatched village of Otterton. There is a friendly pub serving good food and a restored working watermill which is also an art gallery, bakery and restaurant

.The nearest of many fabulous beaches is less than a mile away. The coast path is 10 minutes walk from the village and there is the whole of the Heritage coast to explore. Otterton is nestled in a small valley between the lovely towns of Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton.

The house has a wonderful garden backing onto fields and there is a large enclosed trampoline to keep children entertained. Outside the kitchen there is a patio with table and chairs, an area of garden with a gravel terrace and more chairs. Then there is a large grassy play area with swings and a hammock to lie in and while away a few hours. The top of the garden is a semi wild area where there are lovely views of the village and surrounding hills,from here you can walk out of the back garden onto the hills.

East Devon is a beautiful unspoilt stretch of coast and it also benefits from a wealth of tourist activities. There is Bicton Park and gardens only a mile away with lovely indoor and outdoor childrens play areas, train and beautifully landscaped gardens. Crealy Adventure Park (roller coaster, log flume and huge indoor play areas), Pecorama (mini steam trains, playground and gardens) The World of Country Life ( museum, animals and playgrounds) and Seaton Tramway are just a few places providing fun in fine or not so fine weather.

There are the beautiful houses and gardens of Killerton,A La Ronde and Escot to explore. Locally there is fishing on the River Otter or sea fishing. Most sea and sporting activities are available close by. There are lots of beautiful walks which can be done from the house, both river and coastal to Budleigh or sidmouth. Further afield Dartmoor is 3/4 of an hour away and there is the rest of Devon to explore, the M5 is 15 minutes away.

The country style kitchen/dinning room has a dishwasher, washing machine and patio doors lead onto the garden. The sitting room has an open fire and looks out onto the stream, (usually dry in summer) that runs through the center of the village.

There is a separate toilet downstairs, and upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, 1 twin, 1 double and 1 single and a bathroom with bath and shower. There is a double sofa bed in the lounge.

Burnside has a wonderful garden, backing onto the fields of Anchoring Hill.It is a lovely place to sit and watch the buzzards overhead or the cows come down to the fence. There is off road parking at the front of the cottage. Travel cot and travel high chair available.

Otterton is ideally located for a wonderful holiday in East Devon. There is the quiet, unspoilt World Heritage Coast to explore. Ladram Bay is less than a mile away, surrounded by towering red cliffs. It has a sand/pebble beach, rock pools and boats for hire.There is a indoor swimming pool here too ( charges apply).

There are other super beaches to explore within 5 miles; Exmouth has 2 miles of sandy beaches with all beach and holiday facilities.There are the quieter beaches of Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth within 3 miles and some wonderful walks to more secluded beaches.

There is a great choice of walks from the cottage; riverside, coastal or countryside stunning scenery awaits.

Otterton is a friendly village on the banks of the River Otter. The ancient mill has been restored to a highly acclaimed craft gallery, coffee shop and bakery selling award winning organic bread and cakes.The welcoming pub is only two minutes walk and serves good food.

We enjoyed the peaceful village,which is safe for children and the nice pub. It was in a great location and very easy to get to places. The property is nicer than the pictures portray, a very enjoyable stay.

Cosy home away from home

I stayed at Burnside in August 2011 with my partner and two young sons. We walked in and felt at home immediately. There was a cosy living room and a lovely kitchen - fully equipped (even with baby seat, plates and cutlery). The garden was enormous with plenty of space for us to relax or the children to play in within sight. It is only a minute or so walk to the bus stop (so you can get to the beaches) and a few minutes away from lots of trails. Everything in the house worked properly and the owner came over to see if we needed anything the day after we arrived.

I can't recommend it highly enough and would happily return.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children

lovely house in a charming area

Very lovely house, comfortable and tastefully decorated, sunny and warm. Very nice also for the children, as one of the bedroom is a precious pink bedroom, perfect for a girl ! (but there is a blue one also) and a play area in the garden to keep them busy. The garden is beautiful, with a table to have lunch in the sun, and lots of flowers.The village is charming. In the proximate area, there is Sidmouth, very near by a beautiful little road. In the village there is a good pub. We are used to rent a lot for holidays and this one is a beautiful place to stay. We would have stayed longer and if we go back in the area, no doubt, we 'll stay there. I would recommend it to my friends and family.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Mixture of Rustic and Mediterranean

This is a lovely house in a charming village close to the coast in the east of Devon.

The decoration of the house is a mixture of rustic and Mediterranean, with wooden floors and warm colours. Although the front of the house is quite simple, the inside and the garden more than compensate.

I was recommended this house by my brother and would definitely look this house up next time I return to England.
