Welcome to our British-owned apartment in Le Chinaillon near Le Grand Bornand. We provide privately owned, top quality, spacious accommodation in this charming mountain village all year round. Cheap flights to Geneva and very reasonable rent charges add up to a sensibly priced holiday. In summer the range of activities is considerable. There is walking, biking and pony trekking in the mountains with glorious views; paragliding and rock climbing (for the adventurous); swimming, tennis and golf in the vicinity and a full range of water sports on Lake Annecy. In winter Grand Bornand is a well-established, fully linked ski resort with over 200km of marked runs gathered around a genuine alpine village. There are also extensive cross country trails and snowy walking paths. The location of this first floor apartment is exceptional being only a short distance from both the shopping area and the ski slopes.

An article entitled “A Mountain Mecca”, published in the March 2007 issue of “French Property News”, described Le Chinaillon as “One of the most family-friendly ski resorts in the area (the Haute-Savoie), it is popular all the year round with skiing and snowboarding in the winter giving way to walking and golf, as well as sailing and watersports on Lake Annecy in the summer.” In winter there is magnificent skiing only minutes away. The resort is perfect for families with young children. Access to the slopes is extremely convenient and there are ample shops and restaurants to satisfy the needs of all. In the summer you can step out of the apartment onto a huge network of walking paths which take you far into the mountains, away from civilisation. You can get around on mountain bikes too, which you can rent, on many of the same paths.

No 3, Residence Le Mont Blanc is one of six flats in a building erected in the 1970's. It was completely refurbished to a very high specification in 2007. It is fully centrally heated. The apartment, being from the 1970's, is far more spacious than flats built today (c. 50 sq m). The overall area of the accommodation is in excess of 63 square meters with an additional 17 square meters of balcony! The salon is a large open plan room with separate areas for cooking, eating and relaxing. The fully fitted kitchen has a ceramic hob, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, many appliances and a full range of cooking utensils. It has ample storage space for all your provisions. There are French windows that open out to south facing balcony. The dining area has an extending table and chairs with matching sets of glass, crockery and cutlery for 10 people. A high chair is available for small children. The salon is well furnished with comfortable modern sofas.

There is a flat screen TV with DVD/CD facility which receives a wide variety of international channels and radio programmes. There is a selection of books and games. A telephone is provided and is charged at the standard France Telecom rates. Huge windows give extensive views of the surrounding mountains and skiing areas. The balcony at the side offers an unrivalled view of the route leading to and from the Col de la Colombiere, one of the “classic” routes of the Tour de France. There are two good sized twin-bedded rooms. These are furnished with pine wardrobes and chests of drawers. The bathroom is equipped with a long bath which incorporates a shower. There is also a basin and WC. All sheets and bath towels are included. A great bonus is the second, and separate, WC. A cot is available for infants and a child's bed can be supplied. There is a washer/dryer in the bathroom and ironing equipment is available.

There is a locker in the basement which is used for storing sports kit.

Sunshine, mountains and shows galore

Wow - what an incredible week we had in this lovely Chinaillon flat. We loved the aubonnheurdesmomes festival in Le Grand Bornand and even had a photojournalist knock on the flat door as we had the best view of a play which took place in Chinaillon to kick off the festival. The views of the mountains are superb, neighbours all lovely and all within walking distance of a pharmacy, supermarket, patisserie, cafes and bar! The flat was immaculate with everything we could possibly need on hand - including kids videos and toys - which were cleverly tucked away. Any age can enjoy this flat. I would suggest it to young and old if I wasn't afraid we might not get it next year!

Great summer holiday destination

We have spent two summers in Le Chinaillon. The apartment is the perfect place to stay - with views both up the mountain and down the valley towards La Tournette. The village has enough life in summer but not too much, and is perfectly situated for hiking at various degrees of difficulty. There is a supermarket in the village which caters for most of your needs, otherwise a short drive down to Le Grand Bornand will bring you anything else you might be lacking. The cable car runs from Le Grand Bornand up to the summit of Mont Lachat (2100 metres) even in summer - a spectacular view.
The apartment is simple but very well maintained.

Le Chinaillon holiday apartment

Internally this is a very spacious, light and airy well-appointed and maintained accommodation. Superbly equipped with modern and stylish equipment and facilities (such as fully guided electric shutters, Satellite TV, Dishwasher etc), and decorated to impeccable taste. Comfortable lounge and dining area with big windows plus non-adjoining double bedrooms (important that) and excellent bathroom facilities. There is also a second separate toilet facility very thoughtfully provided for. Externally, the apartment offers two balcony views, the one closest to the dining area overlooking the majestic Mont LaChat through a set of double balcony doors. Car parking is also provided. Just one slot of the double parking bay easily accommodated our large C5 rental vehicle. Access to the apartment is via a small set of stairs to the second floor. There is also convenient space provided in the basement for any walking/ski-ing gear. The flat is in Le Chinaillon which is just above the bigger village of Le Grand Bornand. It is a well-equipped village with its own small supermarket (open on a Sunday too), Pharmacy and bread shop, and is on the last stretch of road leading to the spectacular Col de la Colombiere. For 'Le Tour' fans that we are, we loved it in late July getting to watch the tour come through the village right past the window and the next day watch the time trials in Annecy. With Annecy and its glorious warm clear lake a short distance away and fantastic mountain walks such as Col des Anne in the Aravis range plus views of Mont Blanc at the top of Col des Aravis what more could one ask. We could have gone to Paris for the final stage of the Le Tour. We are glad we didn't and this superb property allowed us that choice. We know this area well and have stayed in many different rental apartments and houses. For our group of 4 adults this is probably the best so far. Winter positioning is good too. There are numerous ski slopes from moderate to experienced in the area which you are well placed to take advantage of. I can recommend this property highly for both Spring/Summer seekers of the Aravis and for the sport orientated snow seekers in Winter.
