Photos and Description of this Lucca holiday villa Villa Morri, an exclusive luxury villa in private grounds ideal for large groups

There are 5 newly restored seperate apartments in the old farmhouse of Villa Morri, an ancient villa on the outskirts of the wonderful walled city of Lucca. The apartments are rented together for a group of people numbering up to 23. In each apartment there is a superb large living room with dining area and fully equipped kitchen, large double/twin bedrooms, luxury bathrooms, and a bed settee. There is a shaded terrace for convenient al fresco eating, and a great BBQ area. Villa Morri offers its guests a fantastic pool that is the only one of its kind (16x9 metres, max depth 1.5 metres). The pool has a slipway, with the water being constantly filtered by a technique which avoids the use of chlorine. There is a hydro massage area with seating so that even small children can use it. The surrounding lawn has sun beds for relaxing in the sun. The villa and its farmhouse stand in private grounds of almost 8000 square metres, completely enclosed by ancient surrounding walls.

This villa complex is perfect for a large family group or group of friends who want to be together but have access to more easily managed, independent living accommodation affording privacy within a large shared house, private garden and pool. In addition the villa is perfect for sampling most of what Tuscany has to offer.Despite its location in an area of quiet country lanes, olive groves and vineyards, it is within the boundaries of the famous 'art' city of Lucca. Four of the five apartments are in the 17th century farmhouse of the old villa. Each apartment has lovely modern bathrooms, and some of the double bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom.The other apartment is separate, next to the pool 30 metres from the main farmhouse. It has its own shaded terrace. Each apartment has air conditioning for particularly hot weather, and central heating for colder spells.

The beautiful walled city of Lucca is only 3 kms. away, 10 minutes by car or bus.Lucca is one of IItalys famous 'art cities', the labyrnth medieval streets hosting many museums and galleries. Lucca was the home of Puccini, and an opera is performed every single day of the year. There are a number of other festivals, notably the Lucca Summer Festival, which has several concerts throughout July and August, and has hosted Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Sting and Lauryn Hill among many others. The famous outdoor Puccini festival is also held throughout July and August at nearby Torre del Lago. Lucca is around one hour from Florence and 20 minutes from Pisa by train or car.

  • Out of the main seaon each apartment can be rented separately, ideal for couples or smaller groups visiting Lucca. Entry days are flexible out of season.
    Central heating and air conditioning 10 Euro per day per apartment.
    Bed linen and towels included.
    Final cleaning included. For 2 weeks stay cleaning and bed change will be provided midweek.
    Rental includes use of WI-FI.
    The owner will ask for a 1000 euro security deposit, which will be returned at the end of your stay.

The villa is in the area of Vicopelago, which is one of the lovely rural areas within the city boundaries of Lucca and which features a number of impressive villas. There are 2 fine restaurants within a short walk, and other restaurants and pizzerias, shops and bars in the suburban street which takes you to the centre of Lucca Old Town, around 3 kms in total.

My family visited Villa Morri last year. It was perfect for what we wanted...a big family gathering place where we could all be together without being on top of each other, and a holiday where everyones tastes could be accomodated. The location of Villa Morri could hardly be better. It is only a few minutes from the Old Town centre, where we could enjoy the galleries, markets and bars, whilst the younger ones amongst us lazed by the fabulous pool every day. Lucca really is a wonderful place, so atmospheric, and it's amazing to feel that you're in the sleepy Tuscany countryside whilst being so close to the city.
The apartments were roomy and beautifully furnished with taste and care by the helpful owner, Silvia. The garden grounds are very peaceful, and although we had some lively BBQ's and al-fresco family meals, the 2 nearby restaurants were also well used by us. And the beach isn't far either, so a good day was spent there.
I would thoroughly recommend Villa Morri if you have a big family group but also want some privacy and a variety of things to do.
