Olhos D Agua is a small fishing village that derives its name from the many fresh water springs that can be seen in and amongst the rocks at low tide. This local abundance of fresh water led many different peoples to settle in Olhos D Agua throughout history; from the early Phoenicians and Carthaginians to the Romans, who were the first to practice the art of salting and sun drying fish. In recent years, archaeologists have unearthed the remains of Salt Drying Tanks on both Maria Luisa and and Santa Eulalia Beach.
