Whilst only a little over half an hour along the A69 from Carlisle (M6) and Newcastle (A1), Common House Farm feels a world away from the stresses of modern life. A mile's walk away from one of the best preserved sections of Hadrian's Wall and with beautiful rural walks along the Tyne Valley or into Kielder Forest, where better to escape and unwind? Our cottage is warm and well equipped - it has recently been fitted with modern oak-effect double glazing and the views from the lounge mean that whatever the time of year, it is possible to relax and enjoy your holiday here in comfort. Depending upon the season, young lambs can be seen in the field in front of the cottages; curlew, the symbol of Northumberland National park, are to be heard calling accross the valley; heather turns the North Pennine Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty purple on the hillside opposite. Even watching the weather blowing up the valley can be exciting from the cosy shelter of your cottage.
Our nearest shops are approximately 2 miles away in the market town of Haltwhistle, whilst slightly further afield is the abbey town of Hexham; for the more dedicated shopper, Newcastle and the Metro Centre are a short drive or train ride away. Should you feel inclined to explore beyond our immediate vicinity, the Lake District, the dramatic Northumberland coast and the Scottish borders are all within an hour's drive.
