The Cottage is in the beautiful, and peaceful village of Inverfarigaig on South Loch Ness with stunning Loch Ness views and many woodland, mountain and loch side walks starting from your front door. The Cottage has its own private beach which is ideal for BBQs and breath-taking sunsets. Within minutes of The Cottage there are other lochs, mountains and forests to explore. The wildlife in the area will also amaze you with many bird species, deer, pine martens, osprey, woodpeckers, red squirrels, bats and at night you are guaranteed to hear the occasional owl. Nearby Loch Ruthven is an impressive bird reserve and dolphins are seen all year at Chanonry Point on the Black Isle (40 mins away). The Cottage is an ideal base for touring everything the Highlands have to offer. Fishing is allowed from either of The Cottage's private beaches. Visitors regularly catch brown trout and occasionally salmon. Sunbathing is also possible on the shingle beach some weeks of the year !

From the moment you arrive you will be amazed at the beauty and setting of this unique cottage. As it is on the shore of Loch Ness, you can look out for Nessie (the Loch Ness monster) at all times of the day and during the long bright summer evenings. The cottage has a conservatory from which you can sit and watch the ever-changing loch, sunsets, wildlife and mountains. Two comfortable, well-equipped bedrooms (one twin, one double) also with stunning loch views, ensure you will sleep well in the peace and quiet of the private countryside location. The well-appointed kitchen allows you to enjoy preparing the rich variety of local produce available at local Farmers Markets and from local producers. Inverness city is only 16 miles away (25 minute drive) and you have ample car parking space at the cottage for any number of vehicles. You are encouraged to help yourself to the rhubarb and cherries in the garden all summer.

The wildlife will also amaze you with dozens of birds visiting the garden bird house, regular sightings of red and sika deer, pine martens, pheasants, osprey, woodpeckers, red squirrels, bats and at night you are guaranteed to hear the occasional owl. With Freeview TV, home entertainment, board games, CDs and DVDs you are ensured of a fun time inside or out. Fishing is allowed from either of The Cottage's private beaches (there is a shingle and a rock beach), accessible down steps from the garden. Visitors have caught brown trout & salmon. Fort Augustus is 25 minutes away with its stunning locks and restaurants. The nearby village of Foyers (2 miles away) has a post office, general store and cafe. Free unlimited broadband access - just bring your laptop. The Cottage is available all year round. It quickly books up, especially for the summer months. Magical place on Loch Ness with a private beach !

We couldn't believe our luck finding this amazing cottage. From the moment we stepped out of the car we couldn't believe the views - up and down Loch Ness from nearly every window in the house. To top it all you get not just one private beach, but two ! There is a shingle beach that is almost like your own small bay that we had bonfires and barbecues on most nights, and the sunsets are amazing. Then there's another rock beach which sticks out into Loch Ness from which the views just take your breath away. Our whole family toasting marshmallows on the beach with the sun going down over Loch Ness will stay as one of our happiest family memories forever. The Cottage itself has everything you would need. The kitchen is well equipped, there are board games, books and DVDs and the house is lovely and warm with central heating. Beware of midges outside in the evenings but our insect repellent did the job. Definitely worth going to the Dores Inn just along Loch Ness, great food at lunch time and evenings and they do afternoon teas too. The walk up behind the cottage to the viewing point in Farigaig Forest is worth it - take your camera !
Don't book if you don't like peace and quiet. It is so wonderfully quiet the only thing you'll hear at night is the occasional owl hooting. We will definitely be booking again, and not just for the lovely welcome pack of wine and shortbread. Our kids loved it too, even if they didn't see the Loch Ness Monster - it didn't stop them trying, we had to buy binoculars !

Wonderful cottage with amazing views

We could not fault our hioliday in this magical place, and to have our own private beach was amazing. The Cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped with great views from every room. It is very private and quiet and the front garden is fenced making it safe for our kids and dog to play in.
The highlights for us were having barbecues on the beach watching the amazing sunsets, seeing a red squirrel from the conservatory and watching the dolphins jumping out of the water from Chanonry Point, which is about half an hour away. It was the perfect place as a touring base and we did day trips to Skye, Fort William and the Cairngorms.
The lovely welcome pack was a real surprise and the owners, Iain and Turan, have thought of everything. If they ever sell The Cottage we have demanded to be first on the list ! We will be back.
