Each gite is set well apart, Sky TV, 2/3 bedrooms cottages.. Fishing, golf.

3 Detached cottages of style and character, set well apart. Beautiful site with heated pool, open May 23rd to 29th August. Bed linen provided free – all beds are made ready for your arrival. Free hot water, central-heating, electricity and gas. Sky TV. Your own patio/garden area for barbecues or just sitting and staring! Each of the gites has its own special character. Croquet court 20 x 10, equipment provided.

The two acres of La Hallotiere offer a green and attractive, tranquil setting with fruit trees and surrounded by farmland. Lovely views. The undulating, tree-bordered fields, orchards and classic bocage of the area provide a special flavour of the real Normandy. Roads of Manche with very little traffic allow easy access in under 20 minutes: zoos and theme parks, 2nd world war sites, golf, lakes and fishing. Local towns take pride in their bakeries and special street markets. Within 1 hour: Mont St Michel, St Malo old town, Caen, the coast with wonderful sandy beaches.

A 3 bedroom stone cottage, completely renovated, south facing. This cottage has an open plan ground floor dominated by the original stone Norman fireplace. A wood burning stove is installed. The kitchen is in one corner, with the table and chairs and sofas making up the rest of the room. A tiled floor and the original beams give character. Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms and large bathroom. Linen is provided and beds made, ready for your arrival. Please bring your own bath and beach towels. The property is not suitable for anyone who has trouble going up or down stairs or walking on gravel or eneven ground.

Within half an hour: Villedieu les Poeles famous for copper, brass and making church bells. Vire a market town famous for its special sausages. Near Vire is a golf course and fishing lake. Brecey ten minutes from us, Friday market, famed for cider, with supermarket, shops and attractive church. Mortain centre of the German WW2 Counter-attack. Avranches very attractive large town with botanical gardens, churches and good shops.

Within one hour of us is Mont St Michel, the second most-visited site in France! Also St Malo with its old and fortified town. In the area are many zoos, theme parks, museums and sites concerning WW2 Normandy landings.

From St Malo or Granville (1hr from us), you can take a ferry to the Channel Isles for a day trip, or longer.

There are several excellent places to eat within a few minutes of La Hallotiere. These range from stylish restaurants, to very good cafes where you can enjoy a great 4-course dejuner with wine for ten Euros each!

Le Mont St Michel: An hours drive to the 2nd most visited site in France, after the Eiffel Tower. A must for all visitors to Normandy.

2nd world War sites: We are situated within the 'Contra-attaque' area. Of great interest and within 15 minutes of Mortain, scene of fierce resistance of the German forces.

Beaches: Well within an hours drive of wonderful sandy beaches.

Golf:

There is an 18 hole golf course at Lake Datee. Visitors are welcome. It is about 30 minutes from us.

Wonderful family holiday

We had a wonderful holiday at La Hallotiere. Peter and Jenny were lovely hosts and made the whole family feel very welcome. We did several great day trips to the D Day beaches, Mont St Michel, Bayeux - Tapesty and the local towns which provided wonderful food and wine. Our hosts provided great directions and suggestions. The cottage was great for our family (two adults and two children 5 & 3) and the whole property was lovely, we had a lot of fun.

Perfect Combination

The perfect combination of tranquillity with plenty of fun things for the family to do just a short distance away.

Stone cottage is in a beautiful setting, and is spotlessly clean and well appointed. We made full use of the lovely garden, croquet lawn and heated swimming pool.

The near by beach at Carolles was great fun as well as the Zoo and Enchanted Village.

We have come away with a list of things we would like to do again and some things we didn’t get round to on our next visit.

Peter and Jenny couldn’t have been any more charming and helpful.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Great family holiday

Had a great week stay early July 2011. A lovely quiet cottage - really tranquil. Wonderful, thoughtful hosts who are always there if you need them but at the same time completely unobtrusive.
A wonderful location - close to all the big attractions - Bayeaux, Normandy beaches, Mont St michel, ST Malo and some lovely locals sites too like waterfalls and enchanted villages!
3 children ages 10,9 and 7 were well catered for with the heated outdoor pool. Wonderful after a busy day out or the perfect spot for a lazy day at the cottage.
This accommodation was spotless and really well furnished. Perfect for a family of 5.
Highly recommended for a superb holiday in Normandy

Superb cottage in delightful setting

We had a fantastic week in the Stone House cottage. The house was spotless, well equipped and child friendly. Owners Peter and Jenny were fantastically helpful, from advice on day trips to providing an extra stair gate for our little one. The beautiful views and gardens surpassed our expectations, and the pool was perfect for us. Highly recommended!

Cider with Crocquet

Easy 4 hour drive from Calais to the quieter part of the middle of nowhere! The only sound was the wind in and birds in the trees.......until we discovered the crocquet lawn and corkscrew..........then there were lots of clinking and tapping sounds too. Peter and Jenny were great hosts -- nothing seemed to much trouble. We loved the unspoilt views across the rolling countryside, the well-tended swimming pool and the the quaint local shopping village of Brecy -- tradition with a proper supermarket! We had solid sunshine so as a result didn't really go out anywhere. Next time perhaps!
