Anstruther or Ainster is the largest and busiest of the 'East Neuk' coastal towns. It was, until 50 years ago, a busy fishing village, but the demise of the North Sea herring shoals around this time saw fishing disappear. The history of fishing, from the earliest times to the present day, can be remembered by a visit to the Scottish Fisheries Museum. Anstruther is now a bustling town with a variety of shops, pubs and excellent restaurants, mainly specialising in seafood. Regular boat trips to the Bird Sanctuary on the Isle of May.
Golfers are close to the world famous courses at St Andrews, the excellent new Kingsbarns links and the historic East Neuk links of Crail and Elie. Many other excellent Scottish links courses within easy reach and there are many special deals on offer.
Walkers can enjoy the fabulous Fife coastal walk which links The Forth and Tay bridges and which leads past the front door of Seabraes. The Fife Cycle routes are also easily accessable from this property.
