Great holiday in Gocek

We had a great time in Lynn's villa. It was even better than the pictures - the villa was spacious, the kitchen well equipped - plenty of everything. The master bedroom was lovely and big with a king size bed. The twin room was great for kids. The terrace was the best place with great views over Gocek, we sat there for a lot of the time but also used the sun loungers - there was nice privacy for sunbathing here on the comfy loungers if you wanted it. The pool was also great - nice and big and quiet - if you're looking to make lots of friends here, its unlikely, but if you want a quiet sunbathing/swimming spot, it's great. We had a 10 year old so it was a bit quiet for her but that was the only small downside to our holiday.
We hired a car, I think this is essential because it really would be a long way to walk to Gocek every night. There is nothing nearby except other villa complexes so you need the car. We used Metro car hire in Dalaman - they did the airport transfer for just an extra £10 on top of the car hire - excellent value and service - so helpful and friendly, I would recommend using them.
Gocek was great too, not too big - enough nice restaurants along the harbour front to last you for a week or two. There is a lot of sales pressure to dine rather than looking at the menus, but other than that all the ones we tried were good - watch out for service charges. There was plenty of advice on restaurants in Lynn's villa from other travellers. Limon was our favourite. We did a boat trip round the islands, lots of diving off the boat - great for kids although you stay on the boat - there were no beaches, but a good lunch of fresh fish included - 100 turkish lira for 10am - 6pm and lunch (family of 3).
Lynns villa was clean, plenty of hot water, lovely surroundings, everything worked great, lovely welcome pack, she has really thought about what guests want and takes the trouble to make sure you have a good holiday. Its easy to drive in Turkey, just one main road from the airport. We went to the ghost town near Olu Deniz which was worth a visit and to the Fethiye market (good bargains if you like to haggle). Gocek is a small resort, not many bars if you like that sort of thing, but enough little shops to wander round in the evening after dinner. If you like lots of night life and activity, you might prefer Olu Deniz/Calis beach but in our opinion they did not have anywhere near as much character.
A great holiday all round.
