The hillside hamlet of Noizeret has 12 houses - half are occupied by locals who are traditional mixed farmers, the others are holiday homes - Swiss, French, Parisians, English - reflecting the picturesque location. The pace of life is dictated by the speed of a tractor. Our property is at the end of a rural cul-de-sac - there is no through traffic. Tranquility is the keyword & the immediate area is particularly panoramic. Furnished to the standards of a second home, particular attention has been given to the self-catering arrangements. Outside, the property offers the opportunity for private relaxation in a beautiful setting.

The inside of the Farmhouse is dominated by a magnificent 10 metre long beamed room - reputedly built around 1790 - in which all the necessities of indoor living are provided. It features comfortable double sofas and cushioned cane chairs. There is a large library of paperbacks, magazines, tourist guides & maps. There is also a CD player (and Cd's), a TV and DVD player. The tiled fireplace contains a very efficient wood burning stove which can be useful during Spring & Autumn evenings. There is a telephone for incoming/outgoing calls. The kitchen features a gas hob and electric oven as well as a food processor, citrus press, toaster and kettle. A large fridge/freezer handles all needs. The large farmhouse-style table seats six quite comfortably. Double doors open onto the peace and tranquility of the picturesque terraces with their lovely hillside views. A collection of antique pieces complement the rustic scene.

Location: Saone-et-Loire in France

Our 200 year old property is located in the hamlet of Noizeret, 3km from Couches. It is in the Saone et Loire Department - the most southerly of Burgundy - a comfortable 650km drive from Calais or about 120 km from Lyon Airport. Paris is about two and a half hours away by car or 70 minutes by TGV. Leaving the auto route at Beaune, a leisurely 30km drive SW though the Cote d'Or vineyards and along the Canal du Centre takes you to the picturesque settings of Couches and Noizeret. This is where the South of France begins but with none of the intensity of the traditional South. While many flock a further 500km south to the Med, wiser souls leave the autoroute to discover the riches of Burgundy. Tranquility, Prosperity, Friendliness - this is an unhurried region that allows for genuine relaxation in a 'green' environment. Burgundians & hospitality go hand in hand. Visit famous vineyards, historic towns, elegant chateaux and romanesque churches. Great for cyclists on the 'voie-verte'
