Further details for this holiday house rental in Radicondoli, Italy

The house is typical of its medieval surroundings. Whilst maintaining its original characteristics, it has recently been renovated to provide a good level of comfort.

As one goes through the front door, one goes up the original stairway and arrives at a kitchen/dining room. This room includes a fridge, a gas and electric hob, electric cooker, washing machine and stereo along with a dining table, chairs, and an open fire (suitable for barbeques). Up the next flight of stairs, there are three bedrooms with ancient tiled floors and beamed and terracotta tiled ceilings. Two of bedrooms are of a good size and each contains a large double bed. The third bedroom is smaller than the other and has a set of bunk beds. Two modernized bathrooms each with showers are also on this floor.

Throughout the house are shuttered windows, which when opened, over look the village and surrounding countryside. All the walls are painted a simple white.

The village is a well-preserved medieval structure with a single main street and interlacing alleyways. The stone of the buildings is roughly hewn and the ancient wall is reinforced by round towers. The population can vary between one hundred and two hundred people depending on the season, and in such a small place it is interesting that there are two simple medieval churches, St. Mary Assumpta which dates from around the 12th century and the 14th Century church of Santa Croce. The village is 548 metres above sea level, which provides magnificent panoramic views as well a refreshingly cool breeze in the summer.

The village contains a post office, a shop with fresh bread and other necessities and a restaurant with an open, west-facing veranda which enjoys splendid sunsets. There is a play area for children along with a boules’ court.

Belforte is less than an hours from the beach.

Local produce grown in the fileds around Belforte such as wine and olive oil are available for purchase.

Belforte Belforte Belforte!

Review Submitted: July 22, 2010 Date of Stay: May 2010
This is a hidden gem on your search to find the perfect Tuscany holiday.
Belforte is magnificant a truly peaceful, tranquil and "real" italian experience.
We (two adults and 3 children 8, 6 ,3 )stayed in Belforte for 17 days in late May early June and had a wonderful holiday in the Tuscan hills.
The village is very quite with very few tourists, the views are amazing and while the village is remote, it is still only a short drive to Sienna, Randicondilli is 5 mins away, beach is about an hour away
on our trip we visited pisa, Florence, Sienna (my favourite), beach, Chianti, Modena and Rome (about 3hrs to vatican)
Every one who stays will fall in love with Cafe La Mura a cafe / pizzeria about 20 meters from the house. The pizza is fantastic and at 4 euro a pizza you can afford to have plenty!
The house itself is wonderful, a medieval house which has been nicely modernized, While there is no garden this not bother us at all, the kids played with the local kids on the street and there is a park in belforte and randicondoli which are great.
The house has all you could need, and comes even with some board games and books
Make sure to practice some Italian before you go as very few in the village speak English

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did

Belforte

Review Submitted: February 16, 2010 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed here in May 2009 and loved it! The village is quaint, beautiful and very quiet. The home is spacious for 4 adults and 2 children would have ample room in the bunk bed room, that is adjacent to one of the bedrooms. The home had a great fireplace that we used nightly. Also included was a washer/dryer that would be fine for small loads. We drove to neighboring villages and cities in under an hour. Visited Florence, Siena, Volterra, Radicondoli, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Val d'elsa. The roads were well marked, smooth, and we didn't even get lost in our rental car. We would recommend this rental to anyone that didn't mind a little drive to get to larger villages. We looked forward to returning "home" every evening.
