Harrogate holiday cottage: Masham

Thorpe Cottage is comfortably furnished and aims to provide everything you need for either a weekend break or a longer stay. The accommodation consists of a lounge area which is kept snug with the help of underfloor heating and a smart log burner situated in the large open stone fireplace. There is a separate dining area where you can eat, listen to music, read or play board games. The kitchen is well-equipped should you wish to take a break from eating out at the excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes that are to be found locally. The bedrooms are tastefully furnished and consist of a double room with large double bed and a twin room with two singles beds. The bathroom features a whirlpool bath with shower and its quaint curvy walls have been tiled with warm coloured stone.

Masham is a thriving community and there is lots to see and do in the immediate area. It is perhaps best known for its connection to two breweries - The Black Sheep Brewery and Theakston's. Both are open to the public with opportunities to sample the award-winning ales. There are a host of speciality shops and cafes to enjoy with the market place providing a focal point for local people and visitors alike. A twice-weekly market is held as well as continental markets and antique fairs. In September the market comes alive with the sights and smells of the annual sheep fair, where sheep are not only shown but also race! Just minutes away from the bustling centre of the town there are a host of walks and trails including several nature and bird reserves to explore. A riding centre is located a mile from the cottage with the town's nine-hole golf course just five minutes walk away. There are tennis courts for public use, a bowls green and children's play area as well as a river.
