I am originally from York, so when I go back to visit I don't like staying in hotels, this was truly a home from home!
We were warmly welcomed by the housekeeper, who even had milk and teabags ready for us and fresh daffodils on display.
The photos of the flat on this website don't do it justice at all. It was just my boyfriend and I staying, so we had lots of room, as it is bigger than the pictures seemed to me. The extra bedroom was very useful for pushing suitcases aside, but for a family staying I think it would be perfect.
Every room was beautifully presented with original art work on the walls, and a variety of books, CDs and things to look at and do. You won't get bored! The view of the river was great, watching the boats and ducks while you have breakfast is very entertaining, and the night lights on the river make a wonderful backdrop to a cosy night in. The kitchen is very well equipped; I cooked a roast chicken dinner, with all the trimmings, for four people when my father and his partner came to visit.
The location is perfect. If you don't have too much luggage, you can walk it from the train station in under 10 minutes. And everything of importance is very close by. The minster is visible from your window, and there are 2 supermarkets within 5mins. Nice and central, so it's very easy to pop back to the flat between sightseeing for a cuppa or to grab a scarf.
Apart from the odd honk from a goose or laughter of people on a night out at the pubs across the water, there was no noise or disturbance. We had a very peaceful and relaxed stay.
The one and only tiny thing I'd mention is to keep an eye on the hot water, as it's overnight storage heating, you will need to have quick showers if there're more than two of you, or it may run out.
Communication was excellent throughout my booking, every query was answered and the house keeper's directions were very helpful.
As I'm such a regular to York, I would definitely stay here again and again, brilliant value for money and a truly relaxing and comfortable stay in the Woodsmill Quay!
