Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Derbyshire, United Kingdom

Graded 4-star by Visit Britain, it is centrally heated throughout and offers an elegant master bedroom with king-sized bed, a country-style twin room, a cheerful shower room, a generously equipped dining kitchen and a luxurious lounge with games table. There is off road parking for two cars, a large, private lawn plus patio with summer furniture and barbecue for al fresco dining. The Coach House has very special, personal touches, such as houseplants, rotary clothes drier and waste arrangements for recycling. A full list of the equipment and facilities is available upon request. The popular Bull's Head Village inn is only 150 yards away on the village green and next door is The Old Smithy cafe, both serving meals seven days a week.

There are seven country inns within a three mile radius, all serving home-cooked food and giving you a choice of styles. Monyash has a superb children's playground. Monyash is a gem of a village close to Bakewell and lies between Dove Dale to the west and all other famous dales to the east. Despite its great location, its spacious roads and greens mean your comfort is never compromised by other visitors even in the height of Summer and your garden cannot be seen from the road. There is a lock-up barn if you need to store bikes, fishing rods, golf clubs, etc. It is ideally placed for all the attractions in the Peak District, with dales to the east and west, caves to the north and stately homes and theme parks all around. The famous Alton Towers theme park, the largest in the UK, is a 50 minute drive away, but smaller attractions are numerous, such as the UK's only tramway working tramway museum, The Heights of Abraham, a carriage museum, a toy museum, aquarium, and more.

Other Activities: Derbyshire Dales, stately homes, museums, theme parks & market towns

August week away

Triplet Hampshire
Review Submitted: September 27, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We were looking for a holiday base in the southern Peak District, and we were pleased when we spotted the property on the web. The owner very kindly measured the height of doorways after I mentioned we were tall. The description of the property proved very accurate (although SatNav only brought us to the vicinity) and well-equipped. The property was clean and well-maintained. The beds were particulary comfortable. We 3 adults had sufficient room, and enjoyed the private garden. The owners were very attentive and helpful.
Many footpaths fan out from the village, including The Limestone Way - excellent walking territory. Nearby, a disused railway affords traffic free walking and cycling. Several caves allow wet weather alternatives.
The local pub is a few minutes walk and serves good food. There are plenty of other good pubs in striking distance.
With so much else to do we would like to return. A very informative visitors book contains top tips. We have already recommended this property to friends.

A relaxing break from the city

Review Submitted: September 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This was our second visit to the Coach House in a year, and on both occasions we have found the Coach House to be very well equipped, clean and the owners very welcoming. You receive a detailed inventory before arriving which gives you a great idea on what not to pack.

The location is ideal, and is within a short drive of several towns. The village itself is very quiet and peaceful with the Coach House overlooking a small pond. There are many helpful suggestions and leaflets within the property to help you plan your stay. These include dining (if you don't wish to cook in, or bbq), walking and cycling as well as local attractions including National Trust properties within the area.

We had a fantastic time during both visits and would highly recommend the Coach House to anybody looking to unwind for a few days.

Barn conversion, Monyash

Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The barn conversion was comfortable, cosy and well provisioned with everything we needed for our holiday. It was ideally situated in the lovely village of Monyash within the Peak District National Park. We particularly liked the ability to walk from the door directly onto signed footpaths. The village pub which was only a hundred yards or so away had some good real ales, a pleasant beer garden and also served acceptable pub style food.

The Coach House, Monyash

LW24 York
Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The Coach House was a lovely place to stay. We found it's location perfect, with many of the main attractions of Derbyshire well within a 30 minute drive and walks, such as Lathkill Dale, starting just outside the village. The village itself was very picturesque and a lovely place to stroll around in the evening.

The cottage was very clean and maintained to a very high standard with everything you could need for your holiday. There is a very good sized kitchen and main bedroom and everything is very well presented. The seating area to the side of the cottage is very peaceful and the lawn would be perfect for children. The owner of the cottage was very welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. She was there on arrival to give us a tour of the house and to show us how everything worked and she was around during the week to make sure that everything was ok.

Some of the best nearby attractions were Chatsworth, the villages of Eyam and Ashford in the Water, and Parsley Hay cycle hire to ride the Tissington Trail. There were two lovely restaurants in Bakewell: Felicini's (Italian) and Max's (Indian). There's lots of information about these and other restaurants in the cottage and a basketful of leaflets about all the different attractions in Derbyshire.

We really couldn't have asked for anything more and would definitely recommend this cottage!
