The villa has been built incorporating traditional designs and materials with modern high standards and comforts. Local stone has been used for the walls around the property, the paving around the pool and villa, the fireplace, and the archway between the kitchen and living room. Local cypress wood has been used for the wonderful beamed ceilings throughout the villa, and the pergolas. Painted a fresh pale yellow colour inside and out, Villa Erofili has contrasting green aluminium doors, windows and shutters, and mosquito screens on all the windows.
The attractive interior has a number of elements that help to keep the villa perfectly cool during the long hot summer days that Crete is famous for such as terracotta floor tiles, high vaulted ceilings, traditional dark wood furniture that has been hand carved at the workshop of a local craftsman, handmade lace curtains on the living room windows, and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms, and the kitchen / living area.
The a/c units double up as heaters, and there is a fireplace for the cooler nights early and late season. There is solar powered hot water or a back-up immersion heater.
The villa has been finished to a very high standard and includes many modern comforts such as satellite TV, a DVD player, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a washing machine, a BBQ, and beautifully tiled bathrooms. All of the exquisite lights were made at the glass blowing workshop in Kokkino Horio where you are welcome to visit and watch them work.
With such attractive surroundings and great weather, many of the guests at Villa Erofili choose to spend most of their time relaxing out-doors. Giorgos has therefore supplied a good selection of outdoor furniture including dining tables, a coffee table, director’s chairs, sun-beds and umbrellas.
