The Village:
Perched on a small hilltop, the delightful medieval village of Flayosc is typically Provencal with many cafes around a large shady square, fountains and its historic 11th century church. The village has excellent shops for food (including three bakeries!), several restaurants, pharmacy, bank, laundry/dry-cleaners and wine co-op. Nearby there is a roman bridge crossing a beautiful forested valley. During the Summer months Flayosc puts on many activities and festivals.
The Area:
There are many other nearby villages to visit, all with something of interest. The Gorges du Verdon and Lake St Croix which offer swimming or walking in breathtaking scenery are only 45 minutes away. The Mediterranean and sandy beaches are also about 40 minutes to the south at Frejus and it’s just a little further to St Tropez. The region has many interesting chateaux, abbeys, wine domains, art exhibitions and frequent local markets.
Access:
The main auto route, the A8, is only 20 minutes away so Nice, Cannes, Aix en Provence and Marseille are all within about an hour’s drive. Italy is an easy day's outing and so are the picturesque islands just off the coast from Le Lavandou or Hyeres.
