Peniche holiday house: Sao Bernardino

Samantha Cornish, Melanie Bartels and myself (Amee Donohoe) occupied the house while we were competing in the Rip Curl Pro Search event 2009 held in Peniche. It was ideal great position located within close range to an amazing amount of world class waves. The house itself has everything and more you could want from a holiday rental no detail was left untouched!I I cant wait to plan my next trip back to Portugal and there is only one place i would consider staying thanks for everything Maxinne!!!

I am very chilled out - had a great week with the only bad day for weather being the Sunday - we got absolutely soaked and only managed 14 holes.
Your house was perfect for our vacation and I am even trying to see if some friends will go there next year as two families - will let you know.
As for the golf, below are my reviews :-
Sunday - Golden Eagle.
Very wet on this day, but a great course with very friendly people and easy to get to from the house. We gave up after the 14th when my brother let his 9 iron slip out of his hands which then flew backwards through the air and landed in the lake perfectly upright. Unfortunately we could not get it back as the lake was too deep and could not carry on as it was both too wet and we were laughing so much! My brother did not even mind losing his club too much.
Would recommend this course and just wish we could have played it in better conditions.
Monday - Beloura.
An OK course, not too difficult but amazingly busy. The round here took us 5 hours 15 minutes - which is ridiculous. The course was just not worth that amount of time and probably would not go back there.
Tuesday - Aroiera 1
Lovely course well set up and not busy. Had enough for all levels of players. The round here only took us 3 hours 15 minutes - 2 hours quicker than the day before! Would certainly go back and would also like to try the other course at the same place.
Wednesday - Praia d'el Rey
Lovely course - well set up and had great views and setting next to the sea. This course is very good but I think always very busy - think there are other courses just as good that would be better value.
Thursday - Troia
Long drive from the house - but the ferry from Setabul to the resort was a very nice trip and just something different. This was probably the best golf course we played and was difficult and narrow. It had some good views of the sea and was virtually empty - felt like our own private course. Was worth the 2 hours it took to get there.
Friday - Ribegolf 1 (Blue course)
This resort is a very long way from being finished and getting in and out is not easy, also there is no clubhouse/bar near the course - it is a 10 minute drive away. But the course was well worth it - again very quiet, according to the caddy master only busy at the weekend. This was the longest and most difficult course we played (believe the green course here is easier), but it was in great condition and well worth the journey.
All in all we were very happy.

Excellent house and location. Owner available by phone and any small issues we had were dealt with promptly. Plenty space for our family of 6 and nice neighbours! A 10 minute cliff walk to the coast and beautiful sunsets! Safe quiet area.
