Winter in Alicante

The flat was well furnished, clean and everything we needed was available. The building and the grounds are well maintained even throughout winter. The location was superb - having travelled around while we were there Playa de San Juan was definitely one of the the best locations between Santa Pola and Benidorm. Good transport system and miles of beach to amble along. We were blessed with mainly good weather which enhanced the stay even more!
Locally there are plenty of shops and markets and the cafes / restaurants along the beach are helpful - I have special diet needs (coeliac). Of special note - just down from the flat the Bar Ararat - excellent for coffee or drink whilst on the move. Further down the restaurant Los Charros is great -- try the Solomillo - excellent. And on the beach can recommend La Mayoral and La Playa Azul for lunch. For tapas go for Paps Arugás - they are great!.
A must for a day trip is the Island of Tabarca - we went from Santa Pola, just down the coast - we had a water taxi take us over - it is idyllic and the water is completely clear - paradise on earth - great for walking around and enough restaurants/bars for a choice.
Tram service along the coast and into Alicante is smooth and efficient - just leave plenty of time if you are going to Dénia. It is worthwhile doing - the scenery on route is fantastic.
All in all spent 2 months here - and enjoyed it immensely - would not hesitate to recommend it.
