A Touch of Tuscan Paradise. It's the best.

Date of Stay: June 2009
After two weeks of hectic sight-seeing in Italy, we arrived at Dei Mori LaMassa in the Casentino Valley. It is located high in the hills of Tuscany with beautiful panoramic views of the valley.
As you are driving and see the turnoff for Vertelli, and begin the climb to LaMassa, you are transported into a world of serenity and beauty you cannot imagine.
After arriving, hot and tired, we were warmly greeted by Peter and Danny and offered refreshments. We felt we were visiting long, lost friends.
Seeing the star jasmine, geraniums, lavender, te trees, and olive trees in a serene courtyeard with a swimming pool, made us realize we were in for a fabulous stay.
The villa is very comfortable, charmingly presented, immaculately clean, and has a well equiped kitchen so that you can practice your Italian cooking with the local ingredients. A bowl of pasta, a glass of Montepulciano, and a wood fire are the perfect end to a busy day. The terrazzo through the French doors of the living room is also a stunning breakfast location.
A typical day at La Massa begins with the birds singing outside our door, delicious breakfast on the terrace, sightseeing during the day, relaxing by the wonderful pool, dinner in a nearby village, and a night sky filled with bright stars and fireflies.
Since our visit in June, Peter and Danny have added a gym, which includes high quality workout equipment by Pro-Form, plus an Austrian state-of-the-art sauna to enjoy after your workout. As you are working out, you are seeing the beautiful Casentino Valley from the floor to ceiling windows. Who would not want to work out in a beautiful setting like this?
We highly recommend this countryside villa, not just for the beauty of the valley, and well appointed accomodations, but for the graciousness of the hosts, Peter and Danny, who made us feel like family the entire stay. They definitely go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcome and comfortable. We will return.
Owner's Response: We thank the Idaho sisters for their kind review and have fond memories of their stay here.
We like to think that they are right in all that they say, La Massa is indeed a very special place and there really is little better than relaxing on the terrace in the warm evening air and watching the fireflies.
We too think that La Massa is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Tuscany and is as yet relatively unspoiled.
